Normally when MS does an update, they install their own version of a Nvidia driver. I don't know about the ATI driver.

For Nvidia, MS decided that OpenCl wasn't necessary to have all the components that a driver from Nvidia has. (why after the installation, BOINC will say no working GPU found)

So for Nvidia cards, we tell people not to allow Windows updates or if you do, then do download the drivers from the Nvidia website and reinstall them after the update is complete.

Since he has a ATI card, I don't know if that still applies. TBar or Mike might know. (or if anyone else do please speak up)

He's going to need to tell me some of the particulars of the system components. Mainly the memory. The system has 2 sticks of 4GB for a total of 8GB. So at least he will be running dual channel.

But what are the specs of the memory sticks themselves. What brand? What speed? Ryzen performs best with the highest clocked memory as possible up to 3200Mhz. I would think with that low density, the memory sticks will be single sided which is a plus. But the tuning is very memory brand specific for optimized.

Also, I have no experience with the B350 chipset. But there are many users in the forums running motherboards with the B350 chipset that are getting good cpu and memory performance out their systems.

Will need to know the brand, make and model of the motherboard to better suggest tuning parameters in the BIOS also.

Hey guys - take a look at what he has running just now - As I type he is showing one machine which has tasks dating back to the middle of last week, which is before he ordered the new box, so he is either using a different account, or hasn't got it up and running BOINC & SETI yet, only the bare operating system.

So, one step at a time, and don't confuse him with things that don't matter YET.
