Ha ha!

I think it was my last job that did it. I used to work in hospitals across the UK and strangely, large hospitals over here were around the first places to have Starbucks, Costa coffee etc.

The first thing I would do on arriving would be to have a latte, then another around 11am and of course one with lunch and often one in the afternoon. So I got used to that sort of coffee and at weekends instant just wasn't the same.

Luckily I have a cafe across the road from me that does a passable latte, not the best but it hits the spot.

but nothing beats the convenience and price of home-made.

Interesting you should say that, my preference is a latte, and no matter what I have tried at home I cannot get the same taste as I can at almost another coffee shop, heck even McD's latte is better than instant.

I even brought a machine that boiled the water and steamed the milk, and I brought ground coffee from my favourite outlet, and it still didn't taste as good.

I have seen many many machines on the market now but am loathed to part with more money for a sub standard coffee.

I treat myself to a proper breakfast twice a week, at the local Weatherspoons pub where the coffee has free refilles!!

Some things just taste better when someone else makes them for you. Salads are like that.

Back in the late 80's and into the 90's I used to buy IJolt Cola for its huge caffeine kick!

From their web site:
Launched in 1985 as America’s first carbonated energy drink, Jolt Cola dominated the hearts and minds of gamers, hackers, journalists and other night owls across the country with its commitment to all the sugar and twice the caffeine in every can. Despite its cult following, Jolt evolved away from its original core product and stopped production. Jolt CEO Doug Dixon’s vision for Jolt Cola as the phoenix of energy drinks brought the seriously jacked-up cola back to market in September 2017, with single cans available for purchase exclusively at Dollar Generals nationwide and four-packs shipped through Amazon.

The amount of caffeine in Jolt Cola is twice as high as Coca-Cola, about 66 mg per 33 cl can (about 200 mg / l). The slogan used in US cans is "All the Sugar, Twice the Caffeine," while the Swedish, which is still used, reads "Caffeine x 2". (By comparison, brewing coffee contains about 800 mg / l)
Doesn't a real cup of java taste better?
That and more caffiene.

Well, yes. But you don't have to exclude one in favor of the other. It's a matter of what's available and when. When I worked retail I'd drink the "energy drinks" because they were available and quick to consume. If I drank coffee it would have had to cool off before I could drink it. Also, it doesn't come in a handy container! ;-)

Hehe:)
Here it's called "Kaffegök" or "Kaffekask"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karsk
First you put a coin in the cup, pour coffee until you cannot see the coin. Then pour pure alcohol usually moonshine until you can see the coin again.

Well.... there is always this: This PC has a built-in coffee maker

Zotac and Caseking had something else in mind, however, when the two companies collaborated on a custom PC that doubles as a coffee machine.
... A few months ago, Caseking founder Ali Abbas posted a video explaining that there's an Nespresso machine tucked inside. The little flavored cups jam into the side of the chassis, and a short while later, delicious coffee flows from the spout in the front.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that badass astrophysician Neil DeGrasse Tyson also drinks that connoisseur coffee =:)

Now, if I could find mugs or tees with this, they would have to take my money and my circle of enlightenment would be (almost) complete.

Just after leaving port in Piraeus, I ordered a small coffee. It was a Greek coffee - just like the locals had it. It took me 14 hours to drink.

I thought if I persevered with it, it would grow on me but I've not had one since, which makes me think it didn't.

Maybe you can get some hot java served via drone...
IBM has invented coffee drones – and they predict when you need a cup

The barista handing you your cup of coffee might one day be a drone.

IBM has secured a patent for a coffee drone that not only flies around public spaces to deliver cups of brew but also predicts which people need caffeine pick-me-ups.

... It's how this coffee is served that has Colin Newell, a coffee industry expert based in Canada, raising concerns about safety.

"The fundamental flaw here is transporting hot liquids through the air," he said. "It’s a shtick as much as Amazon saying it’ll deliver parcels to your home by drone."

When you discover coffee tastes different in Finland.
French President Macron's face after trying Finnish coffee

Finns are still the world's leading coffee drinker. Last year Finns drank 9.9 kilos of coffee per person, which is the largest consumption in the world.
Swedes are second:)

One dat doctors say is good for you, another that is bad. The same for alcohol. There was a recent study saying that three millions people will die after drinking alcoholic beverages, but a study on "Nature" magazine demolished this article's statistics.
