It seems quite appropriate for the 10,000th thread here to post it relating to The forthcoming nuptials of Prince Harry and Megan.
There is nothing our American friends like better than a British Royal wedding, particularly when one of their own is involved. So guys, are we all getting excited yet?

Prince Harry. He is quite funny really:)

Hehe:)
That TV serie will probably be more succesful and running longer than "Emmerdal Farm", "Coronation Street" and "Eastenders" all together.

If Eric had come at me with a pre-nup 24 years ago, I would have made a very specific suggestion as to where he could file it!

Good grief!!!

I wish the young couple well and I hope they realize that the important thing is the marriage, not the wedding.

Pretty expensive marriages we taxpayers in our monarchies have to pay for.
And Prince Harry and in Sweden Princess Madeleine "Madde" are not even successors to the throne.

On the other hand weddings like that gives high rating in the news media.

Oh. Christopher O'Neill is a British-born American financier. LOL

Anyway the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is due to take place on 19 May 2018.
Please make a note of that date and I'm sure that the event will be broadcasted here in Sweden as well:)

I'm sure that my mother will watch the event.
She has worked at the Swedish Royal Palace and have met our King many times.
And my sister as well (who lives in Liverpool and when meeting Queen Silvia who was impressed by my sister who came all the way from Britain), when our King gaved my mother a Gold medal for her achivements at the "Kungl. Hovstaterna".
When I was serving the Swedish Army our regiment had the honor to guard the Swedish Royal Palace.
"Unfortunately" we where too many in our unit so I didn't guard the Palace.
Just passing by and enoyed our brothers in arms in a perfect summer night enjoying a few pints and attending a rock concert instead.:)
Oh. My mate Nils was not selected either.
Despite the fact that his father was the commandant who arranged the guards at the Swedish Royal Palace at that time. LOL

BTW. The British and the Swedish Royalties have a lot in common.
Some are even relatives:)

Wedding of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may only interest a specific audience. Please help by spinning off or relocating any relevant information, and removing excessive detail that may be against Wikipedia's inclusion policy

That wedding was in 2013 and generated minimal interest in Europe and the States. The wedding was both publicly financed and paid by for by the king (who did not reveal how much he paid). The wedding cost an estimated 3 million kronor.

In this current case the bride was a household name on American TV in her own right, hence the overseas interest. Prince Williams wedding in 2011 was more significant due to the fact that he will be a future King, However, in the last 6 years there has been a noticeable rise in republican fervour, so It is expected that security will be of an appropriate level.

LOL. What's your point?

True, but for many women, the wedding day itself is something special & it shouldn't be taken from them :-)

I was rather hoping that if you wanted a thread to do with Swedish royal marriages, you would start your own, rather than hijack mine on British royal marriages.

Geez...
Many of the Swedish and British royalties are relatives so why the need to start a new thread?
And how is it possible to hijack a thread in a PUBLIC forum?

What is Queen Elizabeth's family relationship with the King of Sweden Karl XVI Gustav?
The European royalty families relationsships can be a little confusing.
But we'll guide you!
https://www.svenskdam.se/2016/07/europas-kungahus-sa-ar-de-slakt/
The close family relationships in Europe's Royalties have almost all a relationsship of Queen Victoria of England, whose nine children married different royal houses.

Btw. I think our Crown Princess Victoria who is a relative to Queen Victoria of Britain is named after her.

LOL

Britain consists of four kingdoms hence the name United Kingdom.
Now it really starts to be complicated...
Not to football players and coachers though:)
