Also it seems as if the issues are closer to the Greenbank end 2000+ miles away

If that is true then why when use the Google cloud to transfer the data it works?
Something is happening in the route of the signal. Maybe someone is stealing our ET call data.
Can't believe this could take weeks to fix especially in the US.
How we expect to receive the ET call if we can even fix our earth link communications?

Yeah, connection is nearly flat dead right now. I've got better connectivity to Arecibo. Jeff's only got so much time this weekend and Matt is on tour again.

Thinking about mounting a big spool of fiber on top of the Prius and laying a line to West Virginia.

To slightly paraphrase, "Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of magnetic media hurtling down the highway"

. . First you have to have the magnetic media, and then the station wagon and a driver. Maybe a Solar electric driverless machine set to shuttle between GBT and Berkeley??

This is close enough.

Quite some years ago I suggested that a customer mirror all his data, rent a SR-71 Blackbird, load all the mirrored volumes into it and fly his data across the country. This was in response to his anger that it would take years at that time to move all his data across the country via the internet of the time.

His sales rep totally lost his cool in the meeting although the customer finally realized the limitations of networks and physics.

Thinks - I wonder what happened?

What's the ping time of a Prius between CA and WV? Nope...

Matt came back off tour just for the night? Nope...

Somebody plugged the router back in?

Hehe, not as old as I am Eric :-)
But really, did you actually think we could solve this riddle in one life time?
I for one believe, this can take several generations.

. . Or worse still, until Tuesday, something about President's Day over there? I was dreading a mad scramble for work with the outage breathing down our necks.
