it appears that my cruncher
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8211551
has given up the ghost...blue screen of death and all that....
it had a sizable cache i'm sure.....so many regrets to the multitudes of wingpersons.

well it took a while to narrow it down.
two things: a faulty memory slot and a pci-e slot
that went bad.
so it is up and running although with only one gtx-760.
i might upgrade it to a gtx-1060.
but it is running at least.

Might be time to save for a new motherboard if things like that are failing.
And video cards at present are still way overpriced due to the Crypto mining frenzy.

I had two motherboards in the last couple of years lose one of their PCIeX16 slots where no card worked or was recognized. Motherboard replacement cured all.

And always insist on having a look at it first before getting it all installed, if together with someone for such a thing, because I bent one of the USB ports out a fashion when using a flashlight,
and it next was not working properly.

Here port four of a total of the same, but it still blows the whole purchase.

Ah! Maybe it is still under warranty, then?

The main board of my SUN workstation is 10 years old this month and it is still working. I had only to change the DDR2 RAM modules and upgrade the hard disk, adding also a GTX 750 Ti GPU board which runs Einstein@home and SETI@home. OS is SuSE Linux 42.2..

they plan obsolescense into products nowadays...
like cars.
i remember a 1968 impala i had...
ran forever...sold it to get something
with better gas mileage...mistake.
the old blue goose is probably still
running somewhere.

Well sad to to say that both of my failed motheboards were under warranty. ASUS. Returned it under RMA. Didn't get it back for 3 months after endless pestering by me. Got back my original motherboard. Nothing repaired or fixed. Same problem for the MSI. Did the same thing with the MSI motherboard. RMA'd and received a (new) different motherboard back in a week that worked fine. Tale of two manufacturers. So be warned.

And not "all" for this either, because here I am getting the sense that it goes the same way with that of my health.

I sympathize on the '68 Impala. I had a '69, 2 dr 350 w/ 4bbl carb. I could watch the gas gauge needle move when the 4 bbl kicked in.

my 68 impala was a 327 four barrel.
got about 18mpg on the highway.

it was a tank tho.
other cars hit it and bounced off.
worst damage was a bent
license plate holder.
