I have for weeks been experiencing "cuda initialisation failure". The error condition seemed to have started with an W10 upgrade but I also had a 780ti failure about the same time. The 780 was removed for possible repair leaving the 980 with a 1050ti I inserted in place of the 780. I have since removed the 1050 but the error condition continues. The computer is - ID: 7354971 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz [Family 6 Model 62 Stepping 4] (12 processors) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (4095MB) driver: 388.71 OpenCL: 1.2 Microsoft Windows 10 Update 2.8.0.0 Core x64 Edition, (10.00.14393.00) Lunatics Unified Win64 v0.44 I have reloaded all related executables except W10. I also reset W10 to a previous edition but the error condition was over 10 days old so that was no help. The only modifications made to app_info.xml was to remove code for SETI v7 and to change count to 0.3 (<count>0.3</count>). The error occurs whether using Lunatics or the default SETI code; it also occurs for Einstein tasks. The only change remaining that I can think of is the dreaded reload of W10 so I thought a query here might help. It has on other issues so here's hoping. |

That sounds like the dreaded MS update of the GPU drivers :-( Turn of Windows driver updates . Then install the proper nVidia drivers, doing a clean installation. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Lunatics Unified Win64 v0.44 You are using a very outdated version there as 0.45 Beta6 is the latest version and running the SoG app instead of that old Cuda app is much better. ;-) Cheers. |

Lunatics Unified Win64 v0.44 That sounds like the dreaded MS update of the GPU drivers :-( Turn of Windows driver updates . Then install the proper nVidia drivers, doing a clean installation. Thanks to both Wiggo and Bob Smith. I think the last (and most recent of nVidia) updates was taken from the nVidia web site but I did not turn off MS update so there are two actions from the above suggestions that I will take. Appreciate advice. |
