Hi All... When you manually tell Manager to get work (Tasks>Update), if the request is less than ~5 minutes (300 sec) after the previous request, you will get that message and receive no work, even if you need it and there is work available. Designed that way to discourage folks from slamming the servers, I suppose. Easily fixed; get a cup of coffee and recheck later:) ![]() |

I waited more than 600 seconds, and yes it updated..who knew!!! Thanks... Is there anyway to tell the app to work on a single TASK instead of running as many as it can, what I am doing is suspending all tasks then manually running each one when it finishes, start the next one, keeping an eye using my ipad mini as a 2nd display. Thanks Justine |

Hi Justine; The easiest way is using the BOINC Manager on each computer. Use the Advanced view of BOINC Manager. Select the tab 'Options' then select 'Computing Preferences'. In the Pop Up menu you can control the number of work units processed simultaneously by setting the CPU percentage. If you have 4 processing threads and wish to use just one at a time set the percentage to 25%. Then press OK. Close and Restart BOINC to insure the new configuration is read and working. ![]() "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

No need to restart BOINC when using that method - setting number of CPUs the way JaundicedEye suggests takes immediate effect. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

It's a "BOINC" thing not an operating system thing. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

That particular change should take effect immediately when you click on OK. If she resumes all tasks then goes into preferences and makes that change, as soon as she clicks on OK one task only should continue to run, any other tasks previously running should change to 'waiting to run". Hello, I would like to say that despite my continuous daily activity, the average daily credit continues to decline. Thank you |

The main reason for the drop in Recent Average Credit is the fact that there are no new tapes from Arecibo. This means that we are currently only processing the Breakthrough Listen units (Green Bank) which do not give as much "credit per hour". Also with no Arecibo tapes there will be no new Astropulse units which gave the highest "credit per hour". The main reason for the drop in Recent Average Credit is the fact that there are no new tapes from Arecibo. . . Credit Screw has also reduced the credit awarded per task. The occassional Arecibo resend that comes through runs as normal but receives only about half the credit it would have received 3 weeks ago. And these quick running BGT tasks which would have once received about 80 to 90 credits are now only getting 50 to 60. My RAC graphs are downward running almost vertical lines :( Stephen :( |

Ah, that would explain why I'm running low on WU's too. J. ![]() |

If we can't even get or send work units, it doesn't bode well for contact with any alien civilisation ! lol |

If we can't even get or send work units, it doesn't bode well for contact with any alien civilisation ! lol I'm more worried that the indoor temperature in my house is dropping due to lack of work units... And cold wind from Russia will reach us (where I live) within a few days. |
