On 31 December 2006, Britain made a final payment of about $83m (Â£45.5m) and thereby discharged the last of its war loans from the US. The USA, for whatever reason, did not go home after WW2, leaving you and Western Europe in Stalin's clutches. IF we did go home and not interfere... IF we did not go to war after Kim's grandfather attempted to enslave the South Korean people. The South Korean people would today, be murdered and enslaved by the Kim family. Why do you believe Western Europe and the South Korean people would have been better off today, if we didn't interfere with the evil threatening them? As we should have done after WW2. It's obvious from postings here that old adage "If you don't pay for it, you don't appreciate it." is VERY true. And the US is STILL paying everybody else's tab in NATO, the UN, SEATO, and FEEDING most of the world. Hold your bowls higher, beggars. If the lend lease debt was cancelled, how come the UK made annual payments, paying back the debt on 29th December 2006. And take a while to think were the US would be without the gifts of radar, sonar, jet engines, antitank weaponry, rockets, superchargers, gyroscopic gunsights, submarine detection, self-sealing fuel tanks, plastic explosives and lets not forget the the cavity magnetron, described at the time as the most valuable cargo to reach US shores ever in 1940 plus the contribution we made to the Manhattan Project. And then you refused to let us have the atomic weapons technology so that we had to develop our own so that we did not have the atomic bomb until 1952. ID: 1933599 ·
