Please tell me where in our little discussion about teachers, have i mentioned any judges or the molesting of women. I believe you are getting confused again, that is, if your permanent state isn't confusion. |

Please tell me where in our little discussion about teachers, have i mentioned any judges or the molesting of women......AND please tell me WHERE in our conversation I stated Conservative philosophy should be taught......??? I stated, very succinctly to those observant, that the FACTS should be taught and NOT philosophies. You made a weak attempt to put words in my mouth as is usually the case with 'conversations' in which you participate. It was an obvious try at baiting not a conversational point. And I repeat my point biased teachers create biased students. I object to the blatant brainwashing of our youth by those in positions of authority. The rape of a mind is the much the same as sexual assault, but is condoned by much of academia in the name of 'teaching'. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Then tell me how come your views are similar to Clyde's when he was telling us that his academic friends were largely right wing Trump supporters just two years ago. |

I stated, very succinctly to those observant, that the FACTS should be taught and NOT philosophies. So you think students are too stupid to think on their own? |

Unless differences of opinions by more than one teacher, in front of the students, is the norm. Differences of opinion were the norm in both my public school and college education. From what I see it still is, often most vociferously on many college campuses. The differences need not be one instructor vs another. |

I'm not going through all your posts, my memory is good enough to remember that I questioned your statement about a majority of right wing academics. I too, like JE know that academia is full of left leaning people, but that is because it just is, the higher your education level the more likely you will support the left. Where I don't agree with JE is his belief that it is student brainwashing. Because it also happens in the UK, and in the UK college education is subject based from day one. Not the supposed rounded model used in the US where you study everything under the sun before nominating your major subject much later. |

I'm not going through all your posts, my memory is good enough to remember that I questioned your statement about a majority of right wing academics. That is because the more you learn, the less you have to rely on a other people to tell you what to do and you have absorbed more basic facts and can relate them to each other -- no longer a binary thinker. Conservatism can only flourish in a binary environment. |

I too, like JE know that academia is full of left leaning people, but that is because it just is,...'it just is' does not make it OK to daily indoctrinate their students in THEIR belief system. The POINT of education is to BROADEN the scope of knowledge, not narrow it. It's common knowledge that young minds are malleable and sadly gullible. That is why the millitaries of the world prefer 18-22 year old recruits, in addition to physical ability and stamina, because their mentalities can be shaped into weapons. That's the brutal truth, ignore it at your peril. There is also a reason Conservatives are caricatured as old men, it's because the saying is true "With age comes Wisdom", Old men don't believe the fairytales of Socialist Paradise because we look at the real examples of that system in the world today, most notably now Venezuela and DPRK. The defenders of the Socialist lie say those economies are failing because the US is crushing them. That's true, but the REASON the US is crushing them are the humanitarian abuses heaped upon their citizens BY THE SOCIALIST SYSTEM. Those REAL situations are hidden or downplayed by the Leftist 'teachers' in Academia. They should be instead studied and compared to American or Canadian or British or EU freedoms of thought, enterprise, speech and opportunity. The reason they are not is also obvious to the observant, namely that no one in their right mind would choose to live as a common citizen in today's DPRK or even Venezuela. The POINT of education is to BROADEN the scope of knowledge, not narrow it. Only so far, but as soon as a major subject is chosen then you have to study that subject in its entirety, with maybe a few bits of associated essential subjects. The major subject should be so demanding that in three years you are only skimming the subject, but are learning the skills to research later in life as required. I'm still learning and I started studying Electronic Engineering 57 years ago. It's common knowledge that young minds are malleable and sadly gullible. That is why the millitaries of the world prefer 18-22 year old recruits, in addition to physical ability and stamina, because their mentalities can be shaped into weapons. That's the brutal truth, ignore it at your peril. True, but they do select the intelligence level required for the job(s). Didn't work with me and I joined the Army Apprentice School at Harrogate aged 15. I'm still a square peg that will not go through the round hole. Most old men were brainwashed by the parents before they left school into their political and religious beliefs. It's only those that got some education and questioned those beliefs that make any progress. The conservative work out that some social policies benefit the nation and the socialist learn some economics and work out money doesn't grow on trees. The people you seem to think have gone to the other side probably haven't. They are the independent intelligent swing voters in the middle. How many graduates study social studies or politics to any depth? 10% maybe. Which would indicate because those students have to study other subjects as well, that there are less than 5% of the professors who have any influence. Excluding the indoctrination of the parents, the main influence on a persons political beliefs is where they work, live and play. |

Excluding the indoctrination of the parents, the main influence on a persons political beliefs is where they work, live and play.Add to that, the influence of the media they read or watch - originally newspapers and TV, increasingly social media. Here in the UK, the majority of newspapers range from right-ish to right-wing. Apart from the Guardian, the Independent (no longer available in printed form - but it spawned the 'i'), and the Mirror, it would be hard to detect any left-leaning bias in the mainstream press - and none of those are left-wing, though sometimes caricatured as such. UK television is more tightly regulated, to offset the propaganda power of the moving image. All major terrestrial TV channels are forced into centrism by a requirement for 'balance': we have no readily available equivalent to Fox News. |

When drinking alcohol one should never discus politics or religion. If you want beer, go downstairs to the cafe. |
