Another one bites the dust

Add another one to that list.
Nick Ayers, Trump’s once-likely replacement for chief of staff John Kelly, won’t take the job
Nick Ayers announced Sunday that he is leaving the White House and will not be President Trump’s next chief of staff

Looks like another Trump loyalist at VA forced out after collecting pay but doing little work
...I'm sure that's it.....and the 6 year old triplets he hasn't seen much of in 3 years have nothing to do with it..........

I'm not sure what that comment is about. Please explain that phrase.

Like you, I am sure that those three 6 year olds (yesterday, born 12/12/12), were a big factor in his decision to return to Georgia. But that decision was made some time ago as he had already decided not to serve as the VP's Chief any longer than spring next year.

In my opinion, a very good decision, get out while the goings good and not take up a position which could be tarnished with Trump poop, enjoy family life, make more money and pursue his own political dreams.

N.B. It would have been more helpful to reply to the Nick Ayers post and not the Peter O'Rourke one, it would be a lot clearer to all our readers.

Why the Allen Weisselberg immunity deal may be the biggest news of this bananas week

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/24/politics/allen-weisselberg-trump/index.html
Weisselberg is the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization -- but he's so much more than that. Hired first by Trump's father, Weisselberg has been the money man in Trump's orbit for decades. And, he didn't just handle finances for the Trump Organization but also for Trump's personal accounts.

This is a big deal, many felony convictions to come.

perhaps, but the statue of limitations might have been rung on tens of thousands of those crimes. Of course tax fraud has no limitation.
Bet he was no dummy and even kept both sets of books and handed them over.

A NYT article reports that Ukrainian officials, with links to Russia, paid illegal slush funds to Paul Manafort to influence the 2016 election in favour of Donald Trump.

Why that's not collusion, that's espionage! They shoot people for that.

This additional charge against Manafort gives the justice department one more way to ensure he serves jail time after Trump pardons him for the first round of convictions.

I think the guillotine is a bit too clinical. My preference, as a spectacle, would be similar to the executions ordered by Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scots, of Walter Stewart, Earl of Atholl, his son and Walter Graham who murdered her husband James I of Scotland.

Not for the faint hearted, could be where George R.R. Martin got some of his idea's.

That's pretty mild, if you want disgusting, try a bit further north, Iceland. But they are really Vikings and one of their methods of execution was the Blood Eagle

Bad news, Putin is done with small hand don.
A report this week by NBC News that suspected Russian spy Maria Butina will plead guilty to violating laws regarding government agents operating within the United States.

Butina will reportedly admit to conspiring with a Russian official believed to be Alexander Torshin "to establish unofficial lines of communication with Americans having power and influence over U.S. politics . . . for the benefit of the Russian Federation" (Torshin recently retired from being a deputy director of the Russian central bank). She will also admit to attempting to influence the National Rifle Association and “Political Party 1.” Butina will admit to setting up a meeting between senior officials of the NRA and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in December 2015, in the early months of the Trump campaign. She later reported to Torshin, “We should let them express their gratitude now, we will put pressure on them quietly later.”

Trump sets 'terrible precedent' by crossing red line on Huawei case.

The result of Trump's ham-fisted diplomacy, mouthing off that he is using the arrested Huawei exec. as a bargaining chip to leverage China into a new trade deal, is that the Chinese government is very angry with Canada, has arbitrarily arrested and detained two Canadians in China on bogus vague "national security" charges, is urging boycotts of Canadian-made products (Canada Goose is "down" (no pun intended) 20%) and may lead to long-term problems with our relationship with China.

Why Canada is being punished for this is beyond me, as we are beholden to our extradition treaty with the U.S.; if we don't arrest people wanted in the U.S. if the proper paperwork is done, then they won't either and Canadian criminals can use the U.S. as a hideout. I imagine it's simply because we have no nukes (we are aware of) and a tenth the population, so are a more target for bullying.

Again, this sort of behaviour was predicted for someone with zero political/diplomatic experience whose CV is filled with single-owner corporations comprised of "yes men." Sigh...

Trump appears to have similar under 50% pro numbers as Obama during the same period of their Presidency.
Yes. And similar to Clinton and Reagan.

And if you look at the trend Trump is a winner. Scary...

It just keeps getting worse and worse.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/13/politics/trump-inauguration-spending-investigation/index.html
President Donald Trump's 2017 inaugural committee is currently being investigated by federal prosecutors in New York for possible financial abuses related to the more than $100 million in donations raised for his inauguration, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The investigation was first reported by The Wall Street Journal Thursday afternoon.
Citing conversations with people familiar with the investigation, which is being handled by the US Attorney's office in Manhattan, the Journal reported that prosecutors are also looking into whether the committee accepted donations from individuals looking to gain influence in or access to the new administration.
The newspaper notes that "giving money in exchange for political favors" is illegal, as is misuse of any donated funds. The committee was registered as a nonprofit.
