Well the CPU is 10 years old released Q1 2007 .
Considering it was working before i also assume it has something to do with win 10.
Most probably one of the recent updates.

Yes I think you are right, Win 10 was great when first released now however the latest updates seem to cause problems.

My main machine was totally crippled by the Fall Creators Update, all Nvidia drivers failed to install after, and I had to roll the update back to get it working again.

So I will retire both the old Dells along with my ageing HP and two "home builds" and just continue on this machine for now.

As long as my RAC is more than one I am fine :-)

I don't know how old your Dells are, but I am typing this on a Dell E520 with a Quad Q6600 CPU, and 8Gb ram, running Win 7 SP1. The GTX 750Ti card gives about 10,000 RAC.

All my machines are old Dells that I upgrade, I found that the cheapest way to crunch. And yes Ditch Win 10. I only run one Win 10 machine and it is a pain to maintain. M$ was forced to extend XP support by public demand, the same will happen with Win 7. Nearly every monthly rollover update resets the Nvidia drivers to Windows ones, and I have to reinstall the Nvia drivers. Some machines are still asking for the September update to be installed. They can go screw!!!
