With all the evidence around here I didn't need a study to prove that to be true. ;-) Cheers. |

-[ snip ]- Here in the U.S. there is a saying: MONEY TALKS, BULL$*&T WALKS! I said something like this before: Corporations run this country and the Government obeys the corporations. We the little people have NO SAY in what happens in this country. We need to be invaded from outside our solar system, Independence Day style... We like money. Our voters are driven, in the most part, by their wallets and pocketbooks. And here is just one real world live example of how the demise of Net Neutrality will cost money: Totally shock claim: Comcast accused of gouging TV rivals Wow, who'd have thought it? US cable giant Comcast has been accused of strong-arming smaller carriers into paying too much for some of its TV channels... ... As a result, Wave said in its complaint to US regulator the FCC, it ended up paying too much for channels that, in many cases, its customers didn't even want... ... The complaint from Wave is similar to the case recently filed against AT&T in Houston, Texas. Like Comcast, AT&T was accused of using its control over the local sports broadcasts to unfairly price its competitors out of the market. Merger-hungry AT&T sued for price gouging by Texas ISP AT&T has been hit with a particularly badly-timed antitrust lawsuit accusing it of price gouging... ... The high price demand, En-Touch alleges, was a not-so-subtle effort by AT&T to stop its competitors from carrying local sports broadcasts, thus making those services far less attractive to customers in the Houston area... ... Normally a lawsuit over local sports broadcasts would not be considered particularly important news. In this case, however, it could further undermine AT&T's efforts to sell regulators on its plan to acquire Time Warner in a massive $85bn tie-up. Federal agencies have opposed the deal over concerns that, armed with Time Warner's huge catalogue of cable TV channels, AT&T could block its competitors out of the market by keeping those channels for itself or jacking up the prices... All just a Trumped-up game? Time for a new democracy?? All in your AmeriKa? Only in the USA? -[ snip ]- What the frak does ANY of that have to do with you disrespecting us like that? How would you feel if I started calling your country the United Queendom. You are, after all, ruled by the Queen and not a king. Or so it appears to me anyway. Martin, I used to really enjoy reading your posts about computer tech and other related topics. I'm starting to think that I should just place you on my ignore list like I have done with so many others. Stop misspelling America and disrespecting us like that. Wrong. The Queen does not rule, she reigns and the role is almost entirely ceremonial. Our model of government is totally different to yours. |

What the frak does ANY of that have to do with you disrespecting us like that? ... Stop misspelling America and disrespecting us like that.Really? No need for the magical "k"?...-[ snip ]- All just a gentle prod to stir some thought... And positive ACTION? And the approach taken to so blatantly corruptly 'vote' the demise of Net Neutrality regardless of whatever outcry and disbelief, and all cynically at the last moment before Christmas, well: Does that deserve any 'respect' for the 'American way' of things? Really, is this all to be forgotten, abandoned, come the New Year?! Instead put some pride into actually gaining some fair play and real freedom from the business-with-no-morals extremism? For the Net Neutrality supposed vote, the Kafkaesque description is very sadly very apt... So respectfully... What are the great Americans going to do to regain their freedom on the internet? So respectfully... What are the great Americans going to do to regain their freedom on the internet? Nothing as long as corporations are "people" and Citizens United are the law of the land. The oligarchs are in charge. |

For the great land of the 'free' (to be exploited)... At least there seems to be a little positive noise being made: Jimmy Kimmel Blasts ‘Jackhole’ Ajit Pai and FCC for Repealing Net Neutrality (Video) Host calls decision “absolutely despicable†Nearly 20 State AGs to Sue FCC for Putting 'Corporate Profits Over Consumers' FCC's vote to rip apart net neutrality challenged as blow to consumers and "everyone who cares about a free and open internet" All a game of 'who cares' to profit at the expense of all others?... Is that also known as a free-for-all?... What next for "Make Ameri?a Great"? (In the UK we have Boris Johnson. Is this where the Great USA Trumps us with Borat?...) Only in the USA?... 'Irrelevant noise' from the Circus, is more correct. That is true, what is relevant is what the oligarchs want. |

'Irrelevant noise' from the Circus, is more correct. I've been saying this since January 21, 2010, that's when Citizens United became the law of the land. It says that the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for communications by nonprofit corporations, for-profit corporations, labor unions, and other associations |

WOW!!! We agree again. But i didn't condemn the hateful, murderous, Cuban regime in that post so in your mind I might condone it. |

For a brief update on the Net Neutrality 'vote' in the true style of USA 'politics', we have, all to no surprise, everyone runs to "make great monetary benefit The Lawyers": OK, who had 'Montana' in the net neutrality state pool? Congratulations Montana has become the first US state to lay down its own net neutrality protections. Governor Steve Bullock signed off Monday on an executive order declaring that, as of July 1, all ISPs that want to do businesses with state agencies must adhere to basic net neutrality tenets including bans on paid prioritization and throttling of lawful traffic. Telcos that don't comply can still operate in Montana, but will be ineligible to receive any service contracts with government agencies... California Senate OKs net neutrality law, gives FCC cold hard long stare F U FCC say lawmakers as bill passes to Assembly... Pressure mounts on FCC to cough up answers over fake net neutrality comments US lawmakers have weighed in on the FCC's controversial vote to scrap America's net neutrality rules, demanding information on the millions of fake comments submitted to the watchdog's public consultation on the decision – and asking pointed questions about how the federal regulator handled them... Vermont becomes fifth US state to boot up its own net neutrality rules Vermont has become the fifth US state to adopt net neutrality regulations, joining Montana, New Jersey, Hawaii, and New York... Washington (no, not that one) to pass hardcore net neutrality law: All ISPs in state must obey US tech hotbed steps up with strictest traffic protections yet... Mayors of America demand net neutrality protections… again More than 75 mayors and city officials across America this week signed a letter asking that the nation's net neutrality safeguards remain in place. Again. The open letter is addressed to the four main Congressional leaders, and calls the controversial decision by the FCC to dismantle is own rules covering access to online content a "stark and unwarranted attack on our communities and residents." The local leaders represent 43 million constituents... Hey girl, move a little closer. 'Cause you're too gun shy. Hush, hush, bye says Pai Ajit Pai, the boss of America's communications watchdog, the FCC, says he won't be picking the collectable rifle awarded to him by the NRA as a prize for killing net neutrality... All in the land of the 'freedoms'?... Only in the USA, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |
