Are the dismantling of generations or ideals and sufferance of it's people. National services that looked after water and basic power... GONE Community and Youth: DESTROYED National Health Service: DAMAGED. Social Services: REDUCED and FEARFUL. A society of professionals who negate and say there is no money when those who "pro-fess" should say I will stand and speak and present what is right. Fear full. I live in small home in a wealthy area where I have watched a neighbour in a million+ home have a garage built on the side of their home. The garage has take several months and probably costs the price of a nurses wage for 3 years in a hospital and hundreds if not thousands of people helped. I have seen this through out the area I live in. |

I think over the years we have lost awareness of what we had (and now have become a society that our politicians and professionals found fame in but now are blaming the client (tax payer \ owner \ member) for what has gone wrong. I never thought Britain was the 4th world power (I certainly thought it was a major power) but now we are being told we are downgraded.. I suspect we are told that because there are certain forces that fear us leaving the EURO Zone... I'm kind of interested as to what we will become when it is done for proper. Will we recreate the best of ourselves. |

I suspect we are told that because there are certain forces that fear us leaving the EURO Zone... I think you are meaning that Britain will leave the EU. Britain has never been part of the EURO Zone. Like some other EU members that also are not in the EURO Zone. |

I suspect we are told that because there are certain forces that fear us leaving the EURO Zone... moomin in this you are correct: The blue bits being the evil EUROs :) So I will restate my point better and say "there are certain forces that fear us leaving Europe" but personally I would think they should fear us rejoining ;/ It is certain that America has attempted to destabalise the Euro. It is certain that forces have separated Britain into Eire, Scotland an Wales. The United States Of Euro Americas... Soon to be the USSR of American world colonies... Or perhaps when America runs out of cash it will be Chinese corporate lands or when they burn out their resources Canadians Peoples Places... All the same. They will dismantle our best for their profit. :( |

I think that both Britain and the Nordic countries share most of the same dismantling problem. Here. National services that looked after water and basic power... STILL OK Community and Youth: DESTROYED National Health Service: DAMAGED. Social Services: REDUCED and FEARFUL. Here we are told that we cannot afford State Services as much we did before joining the EU any longer. WTF. Our economy has grown a lot since we joined the EU. So where is the money? |

I think that both Britain and the Nordic countries share most of the same dismantling problem. So where is the money? was a rhetorical question. We all know where the money went. Mishandling of public means en masse. Bureaucracy en masse. No real control where and to what purpose money are spent. Sigh... No wonder that so many are trying to avoid paying taxes. |

You also need to bear in mind, that the profits from formerly, state-owned utilities and 'businesses' are no longer flowing into the Treasury coffers and this has been the case for over 30 years. As usual, the taxpayer was screwed by successive governments and the now, private companies. None of the 'sold off' entities suddenly became profitable in private hands - they were profitable before that, although the profits were never really seen and they were sold for a fraction of their true value! A 'one-off' payment, which was then squandered by a government that was over-spending. As the 'sell-off' continued of assets 'worth' lesser amounts, so, borrowing increased. That income from the 'public companies and utilities' was income, that was never going to be got back via taxes on profits from the 'sell-offs' - how could it? Where do all the profits go, from Power Generation, Distribution and Supply? What about the profits that BT make? Rolls-Royce? British Aerospace? The list goes on and on. The railways? Ah, the railways. A bizarre arrangement, where a private company pays a franchise fee to operate a service and receives huge amounts of public money and then increases the costs to the same public! The water companies are even worse in a number of respects. Naturally, the 'tax arrangements' of most of these former utilities and companies are little different to those of some very large companies I can think of and just as nefarious. Does anyone imagine that these large private companies, make astonishing profits by being ethical? Education is going the same way. How the Hell, can a 'Head Teacher' be on £250k+? That's right, we let companies set up 'acadamies' and then screw the public purse! Look at the state of play for Universities. Massive salaries and perks for Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors etc, etc, etc. NHS Trusts? Where did they come from? Yet another tier of management, together with CCGs etc etc etc. The Police? Jeez, where did these 'Commissioners' come from? Councils? Not good. I used to work for one of the smallest borough councils in the country and the boss was on about £120k plus car (obviously couldn't afford to buy his own - a 5 series BMW), card (yes, a credit card), expenses and generous pension contributions. All that for maybe turning up three days a week! Underneath him, were five senior managers on about £90k.....the next tier of management had to make do on about £70k. The Armed Forces have a strength of roughly 150, 000, but there are about 60, 000 civil servants at the MoD and the civil servant will get a better pension than the guy who had his legs blown-off! The trough was pretty long before, but now it is disappearing into the distance. Indeed, before you have half-filled the trough, the feed has run out! There are just too many mouths at the trough and the number is unsustainable. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Personally I think our meisters keep telling us how good a job they are doing reducing public spending and all parts of our wealth has been misspent by the state in the past. I think it has gone into the hands of wealthy and self serving peoples pockets. They wish us to think it was misspent but for the last 20 odd years the people who have been misspending our communities wealth are those who tell us they never misspent and it is social society that misspends.. I am a little confused. There is no money in the Bureaucracy... It is now in private hands who now own the water you drink. There was never any mishandling of public funds.. Back in 1979+ in the UK Thatcher didn't mishandle the water, electricity or gas... She handled it quite well and sold it off with the pretense Brit's could buy into the dream.... I suspect you will find one in less that ten thousand Brits who actually made any money on that charade... We were sent on a fools errand to conquer the world yet again and came back with next to nothing and then discovered we had sold off our birth right. Bureaucracy is just an excuse to get us to hate the wrong people. No doubt some are rich just... but... Who in your bureaucracy actually has the billions or trillions of dollars removed from your society? And if it is all down to bureaucracy . Click your fingers apply your law and hey presto it is back in the system... The wealth has been stolen and we were duped... |

Who in your bureaucracy actually has the billions or trillions of dollars removed from your society? Bureaucracy doesn't remove that kind of money from taxpayers. But it cost a lot. For instance our national health service that to me looks like there are more administrators than doctors and nurses. If you want to save money, that administrators are supposed to do, then let most of them work with patients instead of computers. |

It does cost a lot but those payments were never sent to bureaucracy (which actually means back into the civil system.) Many managers generally are now nay-sayers who tell us there is no money. In the UK GPs and doctors are themselves business partners and mostly prescribers rather than being active doctors or healers. They look at the computer screen for the latest cheapest medication they can prescribe and DARE you ASK them to actually do a simplistic thing.. They just send you off to a nurse who has now become the doctors fall guy \ girl.. :(... I think I can probably use ethicon and stitch up a wound better than any of the GPs I know. In the UK the national health service is being sold off to an american style service... It will happen in Europe too.. It is a shame as the american system leaves quite a good percentage of it's people without either primary care or care with social value. I would like something better from my society... |

I always thought that general practitioners (GPs) are doctors. Well, that maybe changed as well. |

I always thought that general practitioners (GPs) are doctors. A GP is a general practitioner.. I don't know what is like where you are but in the UK generally no GP will take your blood or do anything that is not topical Here I sometimes think they are called General Privateers.. Others may have a different experience. I doubt that any GP under the age of 40 will put their wealth at risk to treat you hands on? Anyone? UK people? |

NHS choices. Your health, your choices:) I know... Problem is that these things are not treated as law as they were once so of little value and the GPs know that. At some point I wonder if they will be asked if they have patients are 'empty eaters'... I know a bad thing to say but if not asked by the state doctors will probably be asked by private insurance companies and I am a little certain a few doctors and GPs may answer. Maybe? |

Others may have a different experience. I doubt that any GP under the age of 40 will put their wealth at risk to treat you hands on? I don't disregard the faith or desire of younger doctors but there is a certain form of pressure when the state health service offers little certainty. |
