My two crunchers are running about 68K (8011375) and 65K (8188475) RAC, and have been about #33 and 39-40-41 in the Top Computer list for a while now.

This morning I went to check on them, and 8011375 is where it is normally, but 8188475 is nowhere to be found (11am EST), and further, MJS's machine 7488532 is listed as both #40 and #41!!!

I know it's a silly first world problem, but, still...

What's up there?

That is a fairly well know issue with how the BOINC server code shows stats.

The issue is something along the lines of:
When someone requests a page for the stats a check is done to see if it has been updated in X amount of time.
If it hasn't it updates then. Otherwise it shows data from the last time it updated.

So if the interval is 20 minutes and someone looks at page 5 then 15 minutes later you look at page 4 and 5.
Page 4 may be up to date but page 5 is 15 minutes old.

Thanks, HAL!

I thought it might be something like that, but I had never seen it before.

This bug has reoccurred this afternoon. And my second machine is not at the edge of a page of the listing as last time - it is at 61K RAC, and #40 is under 60K.

I don't recall what the update interval for the top host pages and other stats are. I was thinking it was around 30min or so, but maybe it is much less frequent.

One of my E5-2670 hosts at #351 displays a RAC of 23,356.36 and a Total of 11,331,790 in the host list. Currently it has a RAC of 24,235.82and a Total of 11,345,668.
That host is granted ~30k a day. So a difference of ~14k tells me the host list data is updating, but a few hours old.
I wonder if the data is being updated only when the daily stats are generated now?

Looking at the top list I see your other host
ID: 8011375, #32, RAC 64,249.27, Total 38,640,886
That host, at the time I'm making this post, has a RAC of 66,949.86 and a Total of 38,682,470.
The stat sites show that host normally is granted 40-80k credit a day and there is currently a difference of ~42K.

I still feel like your host 8188478 , with a RAC of 61K, might be stuck between pages.

HAL - my guess is you are correct. But that's all trivial compared to the problems the project is having with its infrastructure at the moment.

Basically, right now, it sucks to be us.

It looks like your other machine has appeared. With your two hosts holding #30 and #40.
