Message 1905510 - Posted: 8 Dec 2017, 7:25:51 UTC - in response to Message 1905432.

My Windows Vista computer doing service on SETI@HOME received a warning:

SETI@home: Notice from server
NVIDIA GPU: Upgrade to the latest driver to process tasks using your computer's GPU
12/6/2017 4:39:02 PM

It is still running CPU + GPU jobs right now, but I don't know for how long given the GPU Driver version warning.

Vista Nvidia driver updates stopped with 342.01, which is what it is running.

Will there be an exception made to allow the older computers without ongoing Nvidia GPU updates to contribute moving forward?

You'll have to run the lunatic's installer 0.45 Beta6 (either 32 or 64-bit depending on your version of Vista) and tune it manually as Vista has been cut loose as an unsupported OS now and it's the only way I could kill those messages on a rig I used here last winter.

Cheers.

From memory you should be able to run the Windows 7 driver from nVidia quite happily under Vista. nVidia/geforce used to have a pretty good driver archive, but its not exactly obvious how you get there these days, so try searching the Geforce site for "driver archive".

It seems we have 2 threads running on this,
A GT240 is a pre-Fermi card so you require a driver version of 337.xx or lower to fully support it under any Windows OS, except for Win10 (this card should not be used with Win10 full stop as it is not fully supported, legacy support only).

Cheers.
