While waiting for the turkey to cook, I can take advantage of the big Thanksgiving Day crossword puzzle in my newspaper, today:

LOL. By the time you have finished that crossword puzzle the turkey will probably look like this.

I don't have to worry about cooking, My sister in law, niece, and I guess My nephews wife cook everything, then I just get stuffed, then I drive home 100 miles in 1.5hrs after a bit, driving there takes a bit longer, this time 2.5hrs, next time? I don't know.

Whether your family Thanksgiving this year conjures up Norman Rockwell images or Norman Bates images, here's hoping that your turkey is juicy, your football team is victorious and all your autumnal cocktails are industrial strength!

Mine came with pie.

Vic, where did you get that idea? Oh Christmas is nice enough, I suppose, but it is certainly no Halloween!!!

Exactly!!! We basically followed their example. But over here there is much more of a charitable sense to it. All the displays of fruit and food in local churches and schools go to needy people, and specific collections of food are usually held which are then given to local charities which help the homeless and those in need.

Chris, there is a great deal of charity here as well. Thanksgiving is the one day of the year it is difficult to go hungry in the USA because so many churches and social groups serve free dinners. Food and monetary donations to food pantries spike around Thanksgiving, because people tend to be more aware of poverty and homelessness this time of year.

I thought you loved Xmas, I'm sorry about that.

Yes a lot of people do get fed, My friend Maryann and I went to a catholic church and had a delicious turkey dinner there, even our Post Master Hope was helping there, We'd be hopeless without Her here, James, Maryann's husband couldn't make it this year, His left arm was bothering Him too much, and His left hand is nearly useless.
