I just installed lunatics v0,45 beta 6 on a pc with Ryzen 1700 and amd 7950 gpu. 17 wu, 16 on CPU and one on GPU. To avoid ghosts I completed all task before installing (is it the only way, last time I installed lunatics it produced a lot of ghosts?) I got a lot of guppies with vlar and it seem it goes a lot slower on the gpu than stock settings. More than 20 minutes per task insted of 8-10 for guppies. It hasnt got so many Aricebo yet (before 4-8 minutes). On the cpu the vlar guppies takes about 1:45 on vlar guppies and two hours on aricebo (so maybe a little faster, at least with the guppies). What to do? Change settings for the gpu? I chose avsx (or whats its name) for the gpu. Lunatics on cpu and stock on gpu, is that possible? |

Maybe you installed wrong Lunatics installer. I only see r_3430 for GPU Beta 6 has r_3557 included. Also i suggest to free some CPU cores this also speeds up a little. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I just downloaded and installed the main package (lunatics_win64_v0.45_beta6-for-sog_setup). Is there more on Mikes site I should install? It is 0,04 cpu on the GPU task, automatically chosen. Is that to low? |

You are running the wrong GPU application reinstall Lunatics beta 6 and make sure you get the correct apps. Also you are running 16 CPU cores whilst Ryzen only has 8 physical cores. So your CPU lacks ressources to feed the GPU. Free at least one CPU core. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Answering your question "doesn't 0.04 CPU" mean I've automatically released a CPU CPU core - no, that number is very misleading, it is only a very, very, very crude estimate of the actual amount of CPU support required by the application. To "free up" a core you need to use the "use at most x%" option from SETI manager - work out what the expected % of 100% a single core represents, then multiply that by the number of cores you want to release and take that number from 100 -in you case a single core is just over 6%, you want to free one core, so 100-6 = 94%, so enter 94, and see how many CPU tasks are running, if there are still 16, reduce the number to 93 and try again. Thank you for your replies, but I think I need a "dummies" guide here. At Mikes world download page, at the top I downloaded "lunatics_win64_v0.45_beta6-for-sog_setup". Thats not the correct file? Should I use asvx or not? Should I change the 0,04 or doesnt it matter if I do what you suggested? |

At stock settings I got 100% Cpu on all logical cores, and 80-90% typical on GPU. The system is very responsive and I dont notice Boinc on this pc or the older one with e 6-core Xeon at all. Both have a 7950 gpu. Around 20k rac on the Xeon and 25k on the Ryzen if left alone long enough (maybe 21k 27k). By the way, I have windows 10. |

This is how it should look like. You see r_3557 and you are running r_3430. AVX is the right choice for CPU. So something went wrong there. Also keep in mind i don`t talk bullshit here just check my times. You will see a huge difference in run times. Better free some CPU cycles like Chris explained. You did choose the APU version on the bottom. And of course its slower than the HD5 version on your card. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

If you want to optimze your GPU any further check for a file called "mb_cmdline_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_ATi_HD5.txt" Its located in your project folder on your hard drive. Open with notepad and add the following line Copy and paste -sbs 384 -period_iterations_num 40 -spike_fft_thresh 2048 -tune 1 64 1 4 -oclfft_tune_gr 256 -oclfft_tune_lr 16 -oclfft_tune_wg 256 -oclfft_tune_ls 512 -oclfft_tune_bn 32 -oclfft_tune_cw 32 Save as txt. On next WU start the optimzed comand line values will be used. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I found the file. It was empty. Did copy and paste, and now its exciting to see how much the system will gain. Should I use the same parameter on the other computer? I Installed lunatics on that one too. It is a Xeon w3670 with 7950 gpu ( I had first generation i7-920 and upgraded it a couple of years ago with the used Xeon from a serverpark) Thanks. |

May i sugest somebody make a table of sugested cmdline x GPU Model? That could help a lot of us giving an starting point to work around. The information on the doc help files is not updated to tle latests models. |

May i sugest somebody make a table of sugested cmdline x GPU Model? Yeah, i know. That`s what i wanted to do for the final installer release. I told Richard about it but it seems its on low priority atm. If one ever will come. Anyways i will work on it and think about how to release. I have tons of data about different GPU comand lines stored already. But give me some time, i`m not doing that good health wise. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Take your time, health comes first. BTW I wish you a promt recovery. One sugestion is to put in your site this info, so the information could be stored more dinamicaly and easely to update instead of in the installer itself. The doc could point the site or the mirrors for the help file. |

I just wish Richard had passed on all the installer code to someone for continuity before he hung up his spurs. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

The issue I have a problem with is that the Installer is badly in need of an update. It doesn't have the latest apps and currently always makes the wrong default choices for apps. The documentation is also very behind. The app is now over a year old. A lot has changed since then.
