For most of us here in the US, it's time to set the clocks back an hour on Sunday. Don't forget, or you'll be an hour early on Monday. Meowclocks. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Including my watch, and clocks in my two cars, I have 17 timepieces to manually adjust. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Weird. I didn't know in the US the Daylight has its change in November. Here the clocks has back an hour on 29th October, at 3:00 AM. I hate this beacause cause in me the ''jet lag''. Then the time pass slowly. |

Weird. I didn't know in the US the Daylight has its change in November. Ours used to be before Halloween, too, but the President changed it several years ago. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Weird. I didn't know in the US the Daylight has its change in November. G.W. Bush... http://www.theinfolist.com/php/SummaryGet.php?FindGo=Daylight%20Saving%20Time The period of Daylight Saving Time before the longest day is shorter than the period after, in several countries including the United States and Europe. This unequal split is an energy saving measure. For example, in the U.S. the period of Daylight Saving Time is defined by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The period for Daylight Saving Time was extended by changing the start date from the first Sunday of April to the second Sunday of March, and the end date from the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in November. http://www.theinfolist.com/php/SummaryGet.php?FindGo=Daylight%20Saving%20Time There is no study that can say Daylight Saving Time save energy. Nor positive effects on health, economics or public safety. Or are dark mornings better then dark afternoons? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time#Dispute_over_benefits_and_drawbacks A 2008 Swedish study found that heart attacks were significantly more common the first three weekdays after the spring transition, and significantly less common the first weekday after the autumn transition. |

http://www.theinfolist.com/php/SummaryGet.php?FindGo=Daylight%20Saving%20Time @moomin Terna, a Italy energy company, each year estimates energy savings. The following table reports this data for a few years. Looking at the table you can see that from 2004 to 2017 there was a drop in the savings. [/img] |

@moomin Hmm... In Mars Italy save almost nothing. However you save a lot in October. Doesn't make sense because the day lengths are the same in Mars and October. |

@moomin True, but what I find disturburing are the switches between summertime and normal time today. Why not have summertime the year around? Problem solved;) |

Look on the web most people are against that. Nonsenses! There are more web pages than english spoken! People nearer to the Arctic Circle have a different view on this. https://www.aftonbladet.se/debatt/a/VOa2d/tiden-ar-har--dags-att-sluta-andra-tiden The EU directive on "summer time" was once intended to save energy. New research from the European Parliament has proved once more that this objective has not been achieved. A move to "permanent daylight saving time" (staying on summer hours all year with no time shifts) is sometimes advocated, and has in fact been implemented in some jurisdictions such as Argentina, Chile,[156] Iceland, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Belarus[76] and Turkey. It could be a result of following the timezone of neighbouring region,[157] political will or other causes.[158] Advocates cite the same advantages as normal DST without the problems associated with the twice yearly time shifts. However, many remain unconvinced of the benefits, citing the same problems and the relatively late sunrises, particularly in winter, that year-round DST entails.[12] Russia switched to permanent DST from 2011 to 2014, but the move proved unpopular because of the late sunrises in winter, so the country switched permanently back to "standard" or "winter" time in 2014.[159] The United Kingdom also experimented with year-round summer time between 1968 and 1971, and put clocks forward by an extra hour during World War II.[160] Calling april and october here for summer is a joke. And in June and Juli ithere is never really any dark nights so the DST is pointless! |
