Hi I have upgraded my boinc engine. Unfortunately the new version did not resume the running task of the older version How come ? Moreover it created a new computer id. But when I asked to merge the 2 identical named computer it says there is no other computer to merge with ... details says incompatible cpu GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz vs GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz [Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7] Actually same computer, only Boinc vesion changed Any help to resume the running tasks from the old version ? Thanks |

Having had a quick check of your computers I assume you mean these two https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8371414 https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8315208 The problem may be that the newer one 8371414 has a GPU whereas the other did not. You also were using a fairly old version of Boinc 5.4.9 which may be why it saw the operating system as "Longhorn" and the "newer" machine reports Windows 10. |

It looks like you will have to wait for the tasks on computer 8315208 to time out (on the 22nd of December the last 1 will do that) and then be validated before before you will be able to attempt a merge anyway. Cheers. |

Hi Did you use a different folder location for your BOINC data folder on the old version? It sounds like it just did use the old folder. |

BOINC 5.x stored everything in the same folder. BOINC 6.x and later separated the Program folder from the data folder. When you upgraded from 5 to 7, it didn't migrate the data folder to the new location - and there was no data in the new location - so it installed fresh as if no previous BOINC were installed. As Bernie pointed out, the hardware and software isn't similar enough to merge. |
