My Dell E520 Duel Core cruncher has from what I can tell major problems with the display. I have currently got work on the system thats ready to be crunched and as for now the system is shut down. So I wanted to post hear to see if any of you gyes can help as to the problem and hopefully get it running with a dedicated display again.

I have changed the BIOS Battery, Changed the memory amount as I've increased it and reduced it. I have Removed the dedicated GPU and used the on board GPU. I have changed connection types. I have changed cables from VGA to DVI.

I have also changed the resolution and used several other monitors and still the system will only display a picture for approx 3 seconds.

I am genuinely stumped and I am now stuck.

Because this is a dedicated cruncher with work if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Its a Dell E520 .

The only monitor the system works with is a Dell 15" VGA Flat panel so I'm having to switch constantly.

Can anyone help.

Thanks.

I once got called out to solve a problem like that. It was the monitor which was faulty (dropped to black after a few seconds).

I run 3 Dell E520's and they are excellent low cost machines. I was going to suggest that you install Teamviewer and access the comp remotely, but d'oh! You'd need a monitor in the first place to do that! But if it is a duff monitor then borrow one that works and set remote access up.

I'm now using these two monitors; the ones that were dead. I genuinely do not know if I have fixed the problem or if their was a problem in the first place.

I trashed them out and left them in the cold for about 3 days in the communal bins out side so I do not know if the cold has anything to do with it but I took them out the trash and set them up and they have booted first time.

Last night I was playing with my set up as I have just two days ago pulled everything apart and put it all back together in different places for space management. I found a dead cable among my kit so I changed the fuse and the system I tired it on a number of times this power Cable wouldn't work even with a new fuse so the cable was dead and that was after comparing it to a known good cable.

I pulled these monitors out the trash and I think I have just saved two 19 inch DVI Flat Panels. So at least for now I couldn't be happier.

I just hope they hold out.
