Just noticed this.
Petri33's rig.
16 1080s?
Just curious if he really has that many attached to his rig or if that is an anomaly in reporting.

Meow?

LMAO You just noticed. It's been that way for months.

That's his rewrite of the BOINC app to think it's got 4 times the number of GPUs to get 4 times the cache size.

Ahhh yes. I slightly remember that bit now.
Thanks for the reminder.

I think there is a problem with doing that on his systems. They have been trying to figure out how to run multiple clients from the command line in the "BOINC portable" for Windows hosts thread.

Yeh, Petri's home brew, Tuesday Special version of one of the GTX1080 config files, re-writes part of the GPU BIOS.

Running multiple instances of BOINC at once and controlling them is rather straight forward.
Currently I have a few hosts that run 100's of BOINC instances for goofygrid. As it only has NCI apps at this time.
Having BOINC report more GPUs than exist in the system is also pretty easy & doesn't require modifying any code. Just tweaking some configs.

Yeh, Petri's home brew, Tuesday Special...

The client reports them as being "Tu"'s for "Tuesday" rather than "Ti"... nice touch.

As mentioned, its not that hard. I even put a guide on my home forum on how to setup multiple clients Windows and Linux. BOINCTasks and WUProp setup included.

Yeh, Petri's home brew, Tuesday Special version of one of the GTX1080 config files, re-writes part of the GPU BIOS.

Eh, a Pascal BIOS edit? Or an edit of how BOINC reads the hardware is more like it.

The later one is correct. BOINC reads hardware and replaces the 1080 Ti with 1080 Tu and multiplies the count by four.
When issuing tasks to GPUs it calculates bitwise (n & 3) to get GPU number 0-3. It runs one task at a time per GPU.

Tu stands for Tuesday for obvious reasons.

Im surprised he only gets 180,398,646 credits. I saw 1080ti doing 60k with dual.

That 180 million credits is since March 2015. the RAC for that beast is well over 300,000, so each of the GTX1080 are returning over 75,000 per day.

Petri is using a highly optimised application, a generation on from the one I am using that gives about 65,000 per day (per GTX1080), which in turn is a massive leap ahead from the SoG application that is the best stock application available under Windows.

It's a hack Petri made to Boinc, in order to be able to get 16*100 tasks for his in reality only four 1080's.

. . To be specific I believe it is 3 x 1080 and 1 x 1080ti :)

I tried that when I found that out from the source code, however it did not work for me. That is why I had to make some modifications to the boinc client code and I wanted make it to be visible for everyone and that is why the Ti is called Tu.

I'm still a week off. (browsing through the threads and vanishing -- screaming as I distance from the real world for a week off from duty <3)
