The hernia for all your ills. Let's see, did it break your leg? Did it give you asthma? Did it damage your shoulder? Did it give you the recent cold? Did it give you elevated blood pressure? I could carry on through your multitude of health problems and in just about every case the answer is categorically "NO".
I'm about an inch shorter than you, at leazt five years older, have controlled elevated blood pressure, one functioing kidney, a wrecked knee, a chipped vertribra in my neck, and the list goes on. Some of those can be very painful sometimes, others just nag all the time. I don't pop pain killers every day, I manage to walk miles every day which helps to keep my weight down to below 200 pounds, but I like my food too much....
So you are not the only one with health problems around here, many of us take care not to make them worse.

Arthritis(discovered at age 40)
Hip(2002, both), and right shoulder(1978) dislocations(from a fall)
Hiatal Hernia(1963 at least)
Left rib hernia(2000)
Bad knees(from a fall, 2002)
Bad ankles(surgery, 2002)
3 titanium screws(lower left leg, 2002)
Eyesight(blurry, 1960)
Thyroid(90% for years, recently @ 100%, causes sweating, even when I've only had Water)
Concentration problems(2001 at least, My short term memory is flakey at times, but not all the time, so don't jump to a conclusion like an idiot)
Depression...

My weight is a recent problem, I altered My diet to undo the weight, but some here will cause of ignorance call Me a liar or attack Me, some could read My profile, but I guess some won't or maybe can't...

Telling Me that My problem is cause I'm fat, is ignorance, Merry Xmas...

Look I was born with a Hiatal Hernia, My parents knew this when I was 3 years old, it is documented, by legitimate Medical Doctors...

I did not cause this Hernia.

I also have Arthritis, since at least age 40, the pills are for that mainly, and are only Tylenol, and are authorized, I am not a drug addict...

The Tylenol that I take is an over the counter medication.

Wrong, A hiatal hernia is not the root of all your problems.
I was diagnosed with one in 1980. The Dr. Told me that most people that have one are born with it. And a lot of folks never know they have one.
Your health problems are not related to a hiatal hernia. Its being obese, having arthritis , and the other maladies you have.

@ Chris- having a hiatal hernia does not exclude you from military service. After I was discharged from the USAF in 1980. I wnated to joun the Army Reserve in 81. I had to get copies of my x-rays on my hiatal hernia .
Unless it is an extreme hernia you are able to enlist. I was able to enlist in the Army reserve.
So having a haital hernia is not and end all to much of anything you want to do. Its other health problems that come into play.

Well it's probably repaired, since there is a new cable in place, and a new mainboard. Well new to Me, not everything can be new, recycled, sure, it's an old TV/Monitor, it has a VGA input, and ethernet too, for updates, videos, and such. D models and curved screens, ugh, this TV is a flat screen, I just don't like curved screens.

NO it does not do that. You have other issues then.

The following are risk factors that can result in a hiatus hernia.
Increased pressure within the abdomen caused by:
Heavy lifting or bending over
Frequent or hard coughing
Hard sneezing
Violent vomiting
Straining
Stress

But hiatus hernia doesn't by itself cause those problems.

I'm confused.....
I thought you'd just aquired a functioning 55" tv. But now you appear to be canabilising it to get a "broken" one working. Or have I missed something?

The heatsink is from a TCL 55US57 TV, I don't own a 55US57 TV, I own a fully working and factory refurbished TCL 55S401 TV, so yeah you missed something.

In any case The Samsung UN55D6050TF had a pad fall off, I picked it up and stuck it back on, if it falls again, I'll take the other off, and see about those black aluminum heatsinks, that are around here somewhere, and see if I can apply them directly or not.


In the meantime I installed a surge suppressor in the bedroom in the nearest outlet to the Samsung TV.
