So a bit of light relief.

As dads bungalow will be mostly empty this week I have booked into the rustic pub/hotel in the town square called The Bugle.

One of those places with winding stairways and rooms dotted about.

First thing I enjoy is entering the bar from a stairway at the back.

Second thing I needed was Wi-Fi, which at first appeared to work but was weak, suddenly a login page for a "TP-Link Repeater" appeared.

Well TP-Link repeaters and AP's were what I used to when I was working for Hospedia, and I remembered the default username and password (which I will not post here)

So I tried and guess what, there I was logged into the setup page!!

It seems the login page was appearing because the repeater had not been paired with the main router. So as a guest I knew the password for that, I was able to pair the repeater and suddenly I have full strength Wi-Fi.

The girl on duty knew nothing about the Wi-Fi so I will try and speak to someone who does in the week!!

Made me smile.

Oh, and the steak was great!!

Just make sure the use of that Wi-Fi does not incur any surprise charges on your bill............
Unless they have specifically posted that it is free.

Or the hotel just doesn't know how to re-configure the WiFi to cope with "new" equipment which is not an unusual occurrence even in big chain hotels. Reading what Bernie has said it sounds as if it should have been working, but wasn't - they'd already given him a password etc.

As my incident with the hotel wi-fi seems to require in depth comments. I am moving the post out of the caring thread as they do not belong there.

The only oops would be if the repeater didn't belong to the hotel.

Anyone who leaves default user name / password deserves what they get.
