I have a computer with two gpu cards GTX 980 ti. The cards keep going bad. Does anyone know if the 1080's are any better? I know they are much faster. Thank you My computer is: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz [Family 6 Model 60 Stepping 3] (4 processors) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti (4095MB) driver: 375.70 OpenCL: 1.2 |

980Ti are slightly faster than 1070s, 1080s are slightly faster than the 980Ti. 1080Ti are much faster than all the others. What kind (make) of 980Ti do you have? Are they OC, are they hybrid, water cooled?? There are lots of variations on the 980Tis. |

Generally going for the most basic version of a given GPU family will give you the best life. Not overclocking, simple, single fan cooling, making sure there is plenty of cool air to pass through the coolers will all help with the life expectancy of the GPUs. Also, and this is often overlooked is the PSU, a poor quality PSU can cause all sorts of problems by causing voltage surges, spikes etc., all of which can reduce the life expectancy. After my poor experience with AIB cooling solutions in the past, I never bought anything that wasn't reference single blower fan cooling designs. There is something to say about industrial design longevity of Delta blower fans. Never have had a single one fail. Just purchased and put into use my first AIB cooling design in a single fan GTX 1060. Supposedly the quality of the fans have improved since my last experience and they supposedly are proper ball bearing fans instead of cheap sleeve bearings. The card does cool better than a reference blower in my 970s or 1070s I have to admit. Time will tell whether the card survives. It would seem to me to be a good idea if they are replaceable since they are the only moving part on the device. Stephen ?? |

Yes, but I've never seen any replacement ones generally available- there may be units available on ebay. EDIT- yep, ebay or Amazon appear to carry generic GPU replacement fan units. Grant Darwin NT |

I have one still on the Slow boat from China, GTX460 470570580670 HD5870 video card fan The previous ones lasted about a Year of 24/7 use. If you're lucky, those three holes will match your existing holes on the Heatsink. Otherwise you can either drill New holes or use a little Gorilla Glue and place a weight on it for an hour or so. The Glue works well. |

Most or all are replaceable. However............. Many GPUs are very difficult to disassemble to do so. And correct replacement fans are not always easy to find. That is good to know should the need arise. As 24/7/52 crunchers we are more likely than most to incur that need :) Stephen :) |

From what I have seen it would be the units where the fan is mounted to the heatsink itself that would be the most difficult, as you would probably need to remove the heatsink in order to replace the fan. The upside is that drilling new mounting holes might then be more feasible in that case. Where the fan is mounted in the cowling it should be more straight forward as long as the holes match :) Stephen :) |
