Message 1883213 - Posted: 11 Aug 2017, 18:15:13 UTC

Currently I am setup to use GPUGRID when I run out of gpu tasks in Seti. However, these tasks run from a 12 to 36 hours of wall clock time. And visibly impact my Seti gpu productivity.

I would still like to keep my "bored" gpu busy but want smaller/shorter gpu tasks setup as an 0 type resource. Does anyone have a suggestion?

The target is a single Gtx 1060 3GB gpu.

Thanks,
Tom

I think a majority of NC forum members use Einstein GPU work as the 0 share backup to SETI when we run out of work on Tuesdays.

My GTX1060s run 2 at a time E@H pulsar tasks in 30 min.

Thank you Keith and Betreger.

I added that project and poked around and found the two tasks that were GPU-only and if I did it right, I am "all set" :)

The FGRB1G tasks or Gamma-ray Pulsar binary search is the only active project now with GPU tasks. The BRPG project has already finished up. Einstein just hasn't removed it from the choices yet. You don't have to do anything with your choices the project will just not send any more work for that project. You might want to clean up your selections is all. Also beware of the project automatically enabling you for any new project they start without any advance warning or warning message to you. I just looked and they have added in the new Gamma-ray pulsar search #5 to my preferences. That is a CPU project and if I had previously enabled CPU work I would have received work on that project when I requested my normal GPU work. If you only want to use the GPUs on Einstein, be sure to uncheck use CPU.

Noticing that the OP has some 546 in credit at PrimeGrid.

I would suggest this project and next the Genefer20 tasks or larger, meant for that of GPU processing, because a prime number here is something probably being wished for,
but still not one such is yet known.

Except that numbers alone are perhaps not science.

Einstein is helping Seti with Nebula, that's a biggie.

Milkyway at home, tasks take 2 minutes to complete. Xansons also has very short task times, anywhere from < a minute to five minutes (estimated run-times can be as long as eleven to eighteen minutes, but is very inaccurate). Einstien, Collatz, and MooWrapper tasks take about 15 minutes. PrimeGrid tasks has various sub-project tasks that can take anywhere from 5 minutes to days.
... and still I fear, and still I dare not laugh at the Mad Man!

I think I did but I am getting a message from Boinc/Einstein saying no work based on settings. I am wondering if that means "due to resource share 0" it won't send work or did I select something that keeps it from sending work at all?

I went back and selected all projects but I have the "cpu = no" also set.

Hopefully something will notify me. Otherwise I guess I will wait till Tuesday and see if it works :)
