Weirds? Words? Doesn't that make the RAISE act questionable where it questions the applicants knowledge of English. And that assumes that any test of English is actually a test of English. Many Brits would fail an American test of English. That is a fact, and I can produce a case where that happened at university entrance grade exams. |

Weirds? Words? Which version of "English". Even in the UK there are probably "57 Varieties", and it's not very pure. It's full of Latin, German dialects (Anglo-Saxon), Scandiwegian (Vikings), French (Normans) and all sorts of words we 'borrowed' when we had an Empire. And that doesn't even cover the bastardisation of the language performed by Americans, Canadians and other "English speaking" nations. |
