If I am not wrong, the default preferences when it comes to BOINC, is coming from ClimatePrediction.net .

From both a computing and also practical point of view, definitely no big issue at all.

But perhaps an explanation could still be given why this happens to be so and also the way such a thing is being interpreted.

I think that the general preferences come from that project where they were last modified. Mine is showing Einstein@home for this host I'm typing now.

When you go to any project's Computing preferences and you look at its URL (like https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global) you'll notice that it says 'global' on the end of the line. That's what these preferences are: set in one place and global for all projects under BOINC.

When your client contacts the project you set these preferences at, it gets sent these preferences.
Then your client will send these preferences to all the other projects added to your BOINC, so that you never have conflicting common preferences between projects. The message log - and the local preferences window - shows where the last global preferences were set. In your case, at Climate Prediction.net

Not the correct answer or reply here, unfortunately.

One single line from the Event Log and also this is definitely a BOINC issue.

But next that I am not currently attached to this project and therefore stumble a bit here.

To not be totally unfair, I was thinking of perhaps joining the project later on, when a second computer and also a laptop is up and running.

It is quite safe to ignore the "default project" for general preferences, as, if you change your preferences on another project's website those changes will take effect, not the preferences from the "default project".
This does appear to be a "feature" within BOINC, but is more of an annoyance than a problem.

It is correct answer. Unfortunately you did not understand it.

Go to:
Computing preferences

Edit preferences
       (no need to change anything)
[Update preferences]

From BOINC Manager: [Update] SETI@home

Now look in Event Log to see that "General prefs: " will be from SETI@home
