Two other papers are saying the same thing. No Aliens.

The Mystery Behind a 40-Year-Old Signal From Outer Space May Finally Be Solved

On August 15th 1977, a radio telescope located at Ohio State University detected something strange. The telescope was scanning the stars searching for possible signals from alien civilizations as part of the SETI project, and on that date it found something. The telescope recorded an incredibly strong signal appearing to come from somewhere in the direction of Sagittarius; the signal only lasted about a minute and was never detected again.

Setizens judge for yourselves. :)

Thanks for your reply Chris. :)

The article said the WOW, Signal was caused by comets. Also it's said might have been a computer glitch.

Jury seems to be out on the signal. For Now.

Not settled, nor solved, methinks. Dr. Paris observed some radio emissions from comets. Not too surprising, given that they are surrounded by hydrogen gas. The emissions were quite weak, in comparison to the 'wow signal', even when the smaller antenna he used was allowed for. Paris had to invoke a scenario in which the comets lost much of their signal-producing gas, since 1977. This is possible, but very speculative. The comets might have produced more gas, via sublimation, as comets are won't to do.

Even more concerning: Dr. Paris was able to observe the comets on a number of days, during their recent pass.
Comets move relatively slowly through space. Shouldn't the OSU SETI project, which detected the 'wow signal', have detected it on a number of following days, too, if it were from a comet? It didn't. And, yes, they did look for the wow signal on subsequent days.

The encouraging thing for me is that people are still interested in this. :~)

The salient point here is that too many people WANT there to be a WOW! signal, so they are clutching at straws. If there is a genuine one, then there is. End of story.

Same with God.

**Lets just hope it isn't Red Square by the Kremlin!!

The chance that ET lands in Russia is much greater than in USA:)
