Oh, I got the impression that this was getting faster on Guppi work. Thanks.

Oh, I got the impression that this was getting faster on Guppi work. Thanks.

I also understood that the new alt application, though stock, would still be faster than the one contained in the Lunatics Installer.
But my tests, which gave me some unexpected headaches and some lost/aborted tasks, were not going in that direction and I was wondering what was wrong in my settings (after the headaches had been sorted).

The headaches came from the fact that, though the app_info.xml file was OK, for some reason the app was getting some weird security settings after copying it from one directory/computer to another .
This in turn made BOINC think that there was no CPU application available with the disastrous foreseeable consequences...
So beware (for me this was not an obvious problem and I cut some edges in the process since I was correctly sure about the xml file)!

So, after you got the problems sorted out, did the new app turn out to be faster as you originally thought?

As I was saying, my impression is that it is slower than MB8_win_x64_xxx_VS20xx_r3330. I would have experimented further, but after what Mike said I stopped.
My impression so far is that it is slower.

I am back on 3330.

Unfortunately, Acer netbook where I did stock PGOed build completely died few days ago. It's degradation and death was painful and took last 2 months of my attention.
So my next netbook was not Acer and not AMD.
But it has too small SSD so not sure how I will put dev tools on it... And it will take another month to configure.
So, not hold your breath for updated PGOed opt apps soon :/

And blame Acer who made and seller who sold such junk :(

P.S. need to say that my old Acer netbook where SoG was made still alive but non-transportable due to box plastic degradation. Now part of MB is seen directly...
But it lived quite long and glorious life (that's why new one were Acer too, but ...)

Any reason why you prefer netbooks to laptops? Just curious. Is it cost or availability?

Notebooks/Ultra portables even with their larger screens are pretty close in weight these days.

As soon as you move upto Ultra portables they get quite expensive unless you can buy them used from a higher quality useddiscounter.

So there might be a price issue too.
