G'morning everyone, from a taste of spring in the highlands down under.

I'm on my last coffee break for this morning, while waiting for the dish washing water to cool down enough to get my hands into, before I go out and attack those piles of branches again to see if how much more I can get into the trailer today (hopefully I'll get a bit more done than I did yesterday, depending on my crappy spine last).

Then it'll be Beer O'clock.

Cheers.

I do and you'll find nothing alcoholic in my brewroom that I havn't made myself. ;-)

Well I just demolished another pile of branches and doubled the load in the trailer, but I decided to take a short LLB as it's very warm working out in the yard in the sunshine as the temp here hits 19C and I thought that I'd get it in before my back starts complaining.

Cheers.

Doesn't anyone there have a chipper, save a hell of a lot of time.

My little 1 decided that its on strike (the chainsaw probably let slip what's going on) and in this little village (population of 320 ATM) they expect us to take it to the tip to be done there (7km away), catching 1 of the portable commercial jobs in the village at the right time is also very hard Grant (good for a free supply of wood chips when there are though), but I was just using my hand loppers today cutting anything up to 30mm down to 1m lengths (while my eldest daughter loaded) and the trailer is half full now.

I'm about 4/5ths through it all now anyway and exercise is suppose to be good for you they say, though I can beg to differ at times. ;-)

I've got to see my Doc late in the morning (just before Beer O'clock) so I doubt that much will get done tomorrow and I'll bet that he'll go ape-sh!t at me for doing what I'm doing, but it ain't going to do it by itself. :-(

Anyhow I'm going to get myself a rum'n'lime, sit back and try to relax now as the sun sets. :-)

Cheers.

Another month and I'll be doing the same thing with my rigs again Grant.

Anyhow, I'll be out in the yard again soon to load some more branches in my trailer (hopefully I'll have that full by Thursday's tip day) and then it'll be time for a beer or 3 at the top pub.

Cheers.

I did the same Steve after 3/4 filling my 8'x5'x4' trailer this morning, but I'm 1 of those that usually don't suffer the next morning.

Depending on how my back is tomorrow will depend on whether I fire the chainsaw and finish filling the trailer up.

Anyhow, I've had enough beer for today and it's now time for a few rum'n'limes. ;-)

Cheers.

G'day everyone,

Well after another back breaking 40mins on the chainsaw I reckon that it's time for a beer or 3. ;-)

Cheers.

G'morning everyone,

I'm in a serious discussion with my back ATM on whether I'll do a tip run today or leave it until the weekend (the weekend looks like it may win).

Anyhow, I've got a few other things to do before Beer O'clock so I better go and get some of them done. ;-)

Cheers.

Not often I post here but I do enjoy the odd beer now and again!!

My local Tesco had these on offer and I don't remember trying it before.

I have drunk many a pleasant "Old Speckled Hen" from the same brewer but these are a step up.
6.5% ABV

The description reads:

"Our Master Brewer has created a premium, vintage oaked beer, which delivers the oak-aged fruity, raisiny notes from Old 5X with the lighter malt and toffee of Old Speckled Hen. Elegance and mystery... and amazing with cheese.

Aroma: Toffee and raisins
Taste: Toffee malt combined with dried fruit for a complex richness

Premium dark & malty oak aged"

I have to say it is one I will drink again!!

Yes, Bernie, I quite like Old Crafty Hen, in fact, one is disappearing, right now....it isn't as 'heavy' as McEwan's Champion Ale, which I am quite partial to and weighs in at 7.3%. The Champion Ale reminds me of The Newcastle Star (same brewery at the time) which one could buy in Tesco in the late 90s and that was an even more respectable 7.5%. However, down yur in Deben, I tend towards the very pleasant, St Austell Brewery "Proper Job" IPA (5.5%), "Otter Head" (5.8%) from the Otter Brewery and "Brewer's Preferred" (6.0%) from the Branscombe Vale Brewery......"Proper Job" seems to bless the shelves of Tesco and Waitrose in many parts of the country, now. I can also recommend, two bottled beers from Badger - "Poacher's Choice" (5.7%) and "Blandford Flyer" (5.2%); their flavours are brilliant. In the big Tesco store in Exeter, it usually takes me about 20 mins to make my selection of 8 different beers - it never took that long in Southend or Basildon!

G'morning everyone, from a sunny spring morning in the highlands down under.

It's good to hear that Bernie and Iona were enjoying their beers over the weekend (I enjoyed a few myself).

Anyhow, Monday's Beer O'clock in just 4hrs away so I better get a few more things done in the time remaining (I may even start filling my trailer again with more tree cuttings).

Cheers.

G'morning everyone, on a sunny Friday down under.

3 trees and several bushes Grant which all needed a good pruning, 2 trailer loads of near 1 tonne each have been disposed of already and the trailer is 2/3rds full again.

This morning I'll fire up the chainsaw again to finish off what's left of the large branches and that should fill the trailer for the 3rd load to go.

Then there's the front yard to get into.

Anyhow, Beer O'clock is less than 4hrs away so I better go and get busy.

Cheers.

I don't follow football much now either, but beer is good. I enjoy sitting down in my man-cave bar, watching a movie, and tossing back a few hundred beers. One thing for certain though. I never handle my snakes once I've had a few......
