This is machine 8213716 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=190117 my Dell 990 Intel i5-2400 with a gtx 750ti.

I looked at the abandoned units and the isn't anything in the "standard error" portion of the report. I am getting the errors in both the cpu and gpu processed files.

I have been trying to find a file called "standard error" and either I am overlooking it or its not in either the Boinc sub-dir or the Seti dir.

I have just re-booted the machine on general principles. Besides simply reverting to stock Seti, what else should I be looking at?

I really wanted to take advantage of the additional speed of the AVX processing but maybe my cpu is un-stable for AVX being a first generation of that type of instruction set.

The abandoned tasks look like the ones you had on your system before switching to the optimized apps. That is something that can happen if your haven't run down your cache before switching.
The Stderr output will be empty because your computer didn't do any processing for those tasks. Note the Run time of 0.0 seconds.

If you look at your list of valid and pending tasks you will see those with the application of "Anonymous platform (CPU)" or Anonymous platform (NVIDIA GPU) which are completing successfully.

Seeing as that i5 is the same generation as my 2500K it should handle the AVX app very well unless it is causing it to overheat (I have a very big HSF on mine but Dell really isn't known for good CPU cooling).

I just got done re-running the beta6 lunatics installer. I selected the "stock" seti cpu application (now I have graphics again :) To see if the problem "goes away" by tomorrow.

I am still open to advice on this because I would really like to run things both "just as reliable" and "faster".

Hmmm, I am assuming that my TThortle would keep that from happening but maybe not. How hot is yours running? Mine has been running at 67-69 C. And that didn't change when I installed for AVX.

Ok, so I am ignorant! :( Yes, I got impatient and right after a project reset / remove / re-install to try to get SOG processing I switched to Lunatics so I could force the SOG. And take advantage of the AXV.

Ok, its back to AXV again.

I really don't worry about Error tasks. Normally it is a result of something I did or something beyond my control, like download errors, but the ones to be on the lookout for are Invalid tasks.
Some people worry about tasks that are marked Validation inconclusive, but so long as they don't become Invalid I don't really concern myself with the small percentage of them. Currently I'm at about 0.8947% inconclusive tasks. Sometimes you will get a bunch of inconclusive tasks because you were paired with a host that is trashing work.
I had an old AMD X2 with a GT 8500 that would generate 2-3 invalid tasks a month, but that was such a small percentage of the work it completed I didn't worry about it.

Your temps should be fine, though mine is in the low to mid 50's locked @ 3.4GHz, but Hal is right about those abandoned tasks.

Your current completed tasks look just fine to me.

Hi Tom, just a recommendation. When you are going to be making changes to your system, let your cache run out by setting the cache settings to zero and let Boinc get tasks one at a time. Once you see that the changes made are stable, then go ahead and increase the cache back to your normal settings. This way you won't blow thru a lot of tasks if a change goes bad. Also by doing tasks one at a time while making changes, along with the <return_results_immediately> setting in the cc_config makes it easier to go to the results page and check the effects of the change.
