I poked around and it looks like this gpu has half the CUDA's of a "(1.000) GeForce GTX 980 Ti" but it is coming within a hair of being as fast as the 980?

I have priced the fastest "stock" overclocked (SSC) 3 GByte version at about $214 at Newegg.

Since the power it draws looks like I can shoehorn it into my HP Z400 (with its 'dinky' power supply) I am really interested.

Is this a real result I am seeing on the top gpu list for Windows?

Thanks,
Tom Miller

That list is out to lunch "Relative speeds, measured by average elapsed time of tasks" ... it doesn't take into account how many concurrent tasks are run.

Look at where it places a 1080, between a 1060 and a 1050 Ti. Where those lower end cards are most likely to be running just 1 task, completely stock; and the 1080 more aggressively with more tasks.

2 of my rigs run dual 3GB 1060's and they're good for around 20-21K each while only pulling about 60% of their total maximum power usage running 1 task at a time.

[edit] That page has been flawed ever since it was introduced (and through all of its updates) and no notice should be taken of it (even better if it was removed altogether).

Cheers

It's as real as seeing the 980Ti at the Top of the list and the 980 at the Bottom of the list. If that's not enough to convince you there is something seriously wrong, consider I have the highest ranked Mac at SETI yet the cards I'm using don't even make the Mac list.
Yea, really real...

A better way to judge the GPUs would be to look at the Linux machines in the Top Computer list. Those machines are running the same App at One task at a time. The Run Times will give the best assessment of how the GPU works on those machines. The 1060s are a ways down the list on those machines.

I would list them for performance as:
1080Ti - 28 CU
1080 - 20
980Ti - 22
1070 - 15
980 - 16
1060 - 9
1050 - 5
750 Ti - 5

Some comparisons in that range on Linux:
My 1070 runs ~45% faster than Steven's 1060 on BLCs
My 1070 runs 28% faster than my 980 on BLCs, but slightly slower on shorties.
My 1080 runs 30% faster than my 1070 on BLCs
I would think a 980Ti should be ~90% of a 1080.

Thank ALL of you for throwing the "water of reality" on the gpu list!

Thank you. That was my other question. What is the fastest I can get for a low(er) power consumption....
