If I am understanding it right, "Nebula" is a post Bonic/Seti at Home data analysis step where there is an attempt to "tease out" positive results from the data that is processed by the volunteers out here in Bonic-land.

If that is true, is there any way to take advantage of the BONIC platform to do this data analysis?

If I am understanding what/how Nebula is doing, I think the answer is no because it is not "just number crunching" but includes massive data manipulation that has to reside on a single computer system/database system?

Thanks,

If you carefully re-read what Dr.Anderson has posted you will see that Nebula requires access to almost the whole data set to work, thus would be grossly impractical to do as a distributed computing effort (unless we all had terra-byte connections)

As well when this system was proposed as NTPCKR it was going to be a local (ie in Berkeley) compute device and database, but the decision ended up going with a supercomputing cluster because not only does all the data need to be accessible at once, but the team would like to be able to tune the algorithms and re-run the search with them in a reasonable amount of time ie a few hours versus days or weeks with a smaller local computer.

There is a supercomputing facility at Berkeley but unfortunately it's apparently committed elsewhere.
