Roger Moore, the actor famous for portraying James Bond in seven "007" films between 1973 and 1985, has died after a battle with cancer, according to his family. He was 89.

He was my first Bond. Later, I found The Saint reruns, and loved him in that, too.

He was my first Bond, too, and I think the funniest, but I think, like Dr. Who, the producers tried to write each actor a certain way, each with a slightly different personality than the others. IMHO, they went way too dark with Craig (I haven't even seen the last couple). I think the best Bond overall was Brosnan, but my single favorite film was Dalton's first. The one with Halle Berry was good too, with thoughtfully written details.

One of the best TV shows made, with Britain's greatest actor throughout the ages Roger Moore!
The Persuaders and with Tony Curtis.

TimeLord and David are making me feel old now as I use to watch the original run of The Saint after getting home from school and Sean Connery had just kicked off as James Bond. :-O

Cheers.

The first one I saw in the theater (and where else could you see them in those days?) was Moonraker. At the age of 12, I of course thought myself to be an expert on NASA's Space Shuttles, which were the Big New Thing in spaceflight at the time. And yet, somehow I feel like Jaws was a character I already knew, although I'm pretty sure I hadn't seen The Spy Who Loved Me* at that time.

* Beyond the title, it had no relationship whatsoever to the novel, but the novel actually had very little Bond in it. It might have made a good movie, but definitely not a good Bond movie. (Maybe for Lifetime...)
