Bonus points for the FIRST person to point out what the bridge is, and why it's famous. (and what's wrong...) NO PEEKING AT THE LINK until you've answered...

The Bridge over the river Kwai gracefully crossing the Mae Klong River– renamed Khwae Yai River.
Whats wrong? Name of the River or the 2 rectangular spans?
Can I look now?

Mmm, Judgement time!

Carlos is correct: this IS the "Bridge on the River Kwai" - except that the Thai spell it "Kwae" - and it didn't even have that name
until the book (and the movie based on the book) came out. Before that it was just an un-named tributary of the Mekhlong River.

The book (and subsequent movie) are almost entirely wrong about the treatment of the prisoners at this site,(actually treated rather well,
for Japanese war prisoners...) as they were (mostly)
engineers from the British Army, and would be needed further up the line for design work - the bridge itself is of Dutch design, having been
disassembled by the Japanese from somewhere in Indonesia, (at the time, a Japanese-occupied Dutch colony) transported to Kanchiburi,
and reassembled. (after the piers had been built...) A temporary construction bridge was first built, using the available wood. (jungle...) The Allies
bombed the bridge several times, finally resulting in the destruction of a central pier and the two spans on either side. (no commandos were
involved...) The Japanese hastily repaired the construction bridge (which had been abandoned after the completion of the iron bridge...) and
used it for the rest of the war. The two angular spans are of actual Japanese construction, completed in 1949 as war reparations.

On to the awards:

There being only three posters (Carlos posted several captions...) the awards are

Third Place
Grant Nelson
Second Place
JaundicedEye
and in First Place, and next post, goes to Carlos, for:
"See what Obi Wan's pulled out of the water."
...except that it was Yoda that pulled something out of the water... (in the first trilogy, I haven't watched the prequel trilogy...)

PM on the way as soon as I post this...

Thank you for the win. I said Obi Wan because Alec Guinness played Colonel Nicholson in the movie.

But moving on. How should we caption this?

Well it is just about time for me to leave work and start packing my car up for the trip up north. So it’s time to pick a winner. It always seems that cute kitty pictures manage to get some pretty good captions. Thank you all for your thoughts and captions. More than three were winners. But here are the top three, IMHO.

Third Place:
