Look at Sirius using sky-map.org and you probably will be able to observe "their" antennae. And not any "dishes" either. BTW: Welcome to Seti@home, except for the possible spelling above. Suggestions welcome. Except for that, the possible gaussian versus intelligent signal translation, which I could have a little more about later on. |

What would be the advantage of moving the web servers into space? Now I can see a definite advantage to moving the search antennae to the far side of the moon to totally eliminate stray signals from earth from the mix. Ah, two problems there Bob. Firstly the antennas you speak of to collect signals are actually rather large dishes! We don't have the technology to build one up there, let alone land and set up something the size of a TV aerial. Secondly how would we get a signal back from the far side of the moon? You'd be talking some sort of orbiting satellites at the La Grange points or similar to pick up and re-direct the signals. Remember, he is talking about 100 years from now. The problems you are referring to should be in the past by then. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. If we stifle all imagination and out of the box thinking you are right, we will never get anywhere. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required.
