Wishing I lived nearer there.

I do.

Isn't that the road with the huge landslide blocking it?

Another long day at the museum, but at least it was physically easy. All I had to do was climb up the tower stairs twice. Tomorrow will not be quite that easy, but much better than Saturday. Just conductor on 2244 running a shuttle to the west end.

Yes, PCH, (Pacific Coast Highway), 1 is now closed near Monterrey, CA; but is open through the rest of the state.

Yes, PCH, (Pacific Coast Highway), 1 is now closed near Monterrey, CA; but is open through the rest of the state. That sign looks like part of the highway in Santa Barbra County, between Mariposa reina and Lompoc.

TL

It runs a total of 655.8 miles (1,055.4 km), from its southern terminus is at Interstate 5 (I-5) near Dana Point in Orange County and its northern terminus is at U.S. Highway 101 (US 101) near Leggett in Mendocino County. The Big Sur section gets closed every few years. That coast line is made up of dramatic cliffs right over the ocean. Some times they fall in.

I've tried to drive the Big Sur section twice, and failed twice due to the road being washed out. I guess its a combination of the rock type and the action waves.

It's always been my favorite drive in my Ferrari, when the road is open. When I lived on the central coast I would often zip up to Nepenthe's for an Ambrosia Burger.

It is beautiful

Looking north - the brown patch is a slide that covered PCH

Looking south

needs some bridges too

Thankfully no slides here, not even a plume or a hotspot, though there are some features around here that suggest that there was one at one time.
