Hi Keith :-))

Yes most of our Daffs have gone now, crocuses hanging in there for a bit yet. Quite amazing how 265 miles can make such a difference, but of course ooop norf you have the sea breezes to contend with. Us soft lot dahn sarf Lunnon, just get a bit of precipitation. But nothing that an extendible ladder, and a bag of nutty slack won't put right. Just have to watch out for the Ninja sheep hiding in the undergrowth!

Damn lawn badly needs mowing, keep putting it off, and the more I do the more I get nagged to do it. Self imposed vicious circle really :-(

Why can't the nagging one do it, if it means so much ;-)

In " proper talk " you're saying " She who must be obayed " does the supervision and you do the " manual labour" , same goes in East Anglia but we ain't so P.C how we put things :-)

get the hose out

Is that a euphermisum Chris ??? get caught if it is and you'll find yourself in front of the loacal " beak " ;-) and in the local rag ;-)
Life is what you make of it :-)

When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-)

Thank you for the kind comment. I'm sure the Nikon P500 camera could take better photos if only I learnt how to use it properly. I just use it as an up market point 'n shoot, set to automatic :-)

You should experiment Chris....
Get out of automatic mode....try AV...you will be surprised how much more quality you can get for your images...
Nice job...

What a shame you chose not to post these in the Photographs by Setizens thread.

Tribute simply has to be paid. That is one of Angela's classics, It's a Ten from Len!

Tribute where tribute is due. I did not originate that gem.

Probably about 30 years ago, this line was the winner in the Puns Division of a local Bad Writing contest that was (is still?) hosted each year by San Jose State University.

Unfortunately, I only remember the line and not the name of the author.

Interestingly P&O deny this but it is still universally believed.

Sorry, not universally. The backronym story for "posh" unfortunately has no evidence for it (and some good evidence against), similar to "golf" and "cop" as noted. Here is another etymology.

The plant you wish to have identified looks like some sort of an azalea to me.

I am further told that out there somewhere is a "Bottle brush" plant whatever the heck that is??

Bottlebrush or Callistemon, loves damp areas in full sun and cropping off the seed bottles after each flowering season will greatly improve the plant (keep high nitrogen fertilisers away from them). ;-)

Cheers.

I was just out in the backyard cutting the grass, and found this flowery thing growing under our Euonymus bush.

Anybody know what it is? I don't.

It looks a little like the wild onion "weeds" we get here in the spring. At least, I think they're
wild onions. Not really sure. And I'm afraid I don't have a photo.

Google: Photos of wild onion plants

Are wild onions safe to eat?

We've got plenty of those, too, but I've never seen flowers associated with them.

Looks very much like the Garden star-of-Bethlehem, grass lily, nap-at-noon, or eleven-o'clock lady.
Here they are called Morgonstjärna, Morning Star.

Oh. They are only flowering in sunny weather.
