Graphics processing unit or simply graphics card. Your onboard GPU is not worth crunching on it. Its to weak imho. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

If your computer can take an after market GPU you'll be able to process far more work with it than with your CPU. ;-) Cheers. |

Well if your computer can take 1 of these, ASUS DUAL-GTX1060-O3G's, your RAC will increase by about 20K. If you're limited by your power supply then a GTX 1050 should get you an extra 12K RAC. Cheers. |

If your computer can take an after market GPU you'll be able to process far more work with it than with your CPU. ;-) Most computers you can purchase at a store or for business tend to have a very low grade graphic card or even the graphic card is part of the CPU itself. Since most computers are not designed for gaming or crunching, there is not a reason to put a better graphic card into them. They do fairly well with either a build in graphic card or a low end (grade) graphic card for everyday use. But other people want more out of their computers. As such, they will buy better graphic cards to put into their computers. But you must first make sure that the computer will allow you to place a better graphic card into it (meaning there is a space for it or that you can replace your current graphic card and the new one will fit where the old one is) Also, you have to make sure that the power supply in the computer has sufficient power for the new card. Some card require an additional connection from the power supply to the graphic card. Not all Power supplies have these connection. If you are unsure about any of this, have a computer expert check your computer before you try or buy any thing so that you don't waste your money trying to upgrade a computer that will not allow you to do so. |
