A network of six radio telescopes in the millimeter band on 4 continents, including the South Pole, and Hawaii will try to get an image of the event horizon in Sagittarius A, the nucleus of our Galaxy, and M87. SGRA is a radio source emanating from a black hole of 4 million Sun masses, while M87 has a much bigger black hole, of 6 billion Sun masses. Two nights will be devoted to the observation of each source, a long period especially for the ALMA millimeter array in Chile which is in heavy demand. The data collected by each telescope will be merged in a computer center and this will take months of processing, so the images should be available within 2018.

That sounds excellent! It's hard to imagine so much mass could make up one object.
I can't wait to see the results in 2018.

I just read "Nature".I am not a paying subscriber but each issue has some editorial or news article I can read.On the latest there is an interesting discussion on the thermodynamics of quantum systems, a hot issue.
