Make a judgement call, and deal with any aftermath later. That's what you are there for.

As a former Mod I have had to make the call. And yes a few times I was called on it. That's part of the job. I was spanked by other Mods and by Fred.
And in hindsight I can see where it might have been wiser to wait for a group decision before I took action.
I stand behind the current MODS. They do a great job under thankless conditions.

Some of you never knew that I was once a mod. For a very short time, I was among the annointed ones.

If I am correctly remembering seti "ancient history", there was a time when seti used an "auto-mods" system. A forum program noted which accounts posted most frequently and automatically gave these very active posters mod-buttons. The thinking behind this system was that those who posted most frequently must care the most about the forums, and would therefore be the best stewards of this sacred place.

Oh sure, you all laugh now!!!

Anyway, mistakes are not mistakes if one learns from them.

Yay Fred!!! Long may he reign.
