That does look like the host name of the server.
scheduling server	synergy
scheduler process	synergy
feeder synergy

However since the project doesn't use server host names to communicate with you might want to temporarily add entries to your local host file.
208.68.240.110 setiathome.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.126 setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.118 setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.119 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.127 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu

I use google, 8.8.8.8, for my primary DNS in my router and my ISP DNS as secondary.

Thank you.
This resolved the issue.

My uploads and downloads aren't that bad, but they are slower than usual.
And the web site and forums/account settings are more sluggish than usual as well.

The forum servers are totally trashed at this moment.
Took me 15 minutes to post this.
Hope that does not bode bad things for the weekend.

If it is the general Seti internet connection that is flaky, that is nothing that seti can control. When everything was at the SSL they ran their own high speed links up the hill. Now that they are at the CoLo, they are dependent upon the Uni and their links. But it was seen that the onsite staff, cooling, and UPS, more than outweighed that drawback.
And the Uni has multiple links 100X faster than the old link at the SSL, and professional staff to trouble shoot issues.

I trust that you are not suggesting that the SSL staff are less than professional?

Another instance of strangeness coming through the splitters today. I have been getting nothing but Arecibo tasks on two systems for most of the day today. Almost the exact opposite on the other system. And to make other circumstances more peculiar, all of the systems are hitting the splitter buffer within 10 seconds of each other.

I've been thinking along the same lines.
In my case it's been almost all Arecibo on both systems, then in the last hour or so one system's been picking up about half and half, the other almost all GBT.

. . If it helps you are not alone ... I have been seeing very similar trends. When two machines are hitting the download servers at almost the same time and one is getting masses of guppis and the other is barely getting any. Some peculiarity of the buffer i/o maybe?

And now you see it and now you don't.
At the moment the Web site and forums are either slow to respond, or MIA, then they're back. Then they're not.

It is odd.
Previously they'd have all the GBT splitters running, and only a few of the Arecibo splitters, and you'd end up with roughly 2/3 GBT, 1/3 Arecibo.
Since the last few outages and the GBT data shortages they've just left the Arecibo splitters running, so you'd expect around 50/50 depending on the splitting rate for each. Yet the work you get can be all of one, nothing, or somewhere in between depending on, what ever it is, that's impacting on what work's available at the time you request it.
It is, odd.

On my rigs I seem to be getting 1/3 Guppi and 2/3 Arecibo across the board, but hey, it is still work.

. . Totally
