Its a sad day for me. Today I went to see why the box went down for a few days. When I got there it was off, I turned it on and started smelling smelting smoke. When I looked deeper the smell was coming from the gpu exhaust fans. Its a sad day :( I lost my top producing host.

Put some racks inside the case and advertise it as a "Genuine Canadian Bacon Smoker" for a bargain price of $5000!

Those silly Americans will buy anything :D

What's the going rate for a Pascal Titan X? US$1,500?
Or a GTX 1070 is pretty close to the older Titans for output, and uses a lot less power.

Crossing fingers ..... knock on wood. I've never lost a video card to failure. I got duped once into thinking one of my GTX970's had died but it turned out to be a PCIe x16 slot on a motherboard that had actually failed. Sorry for your loss. That's a significant investment to replace.

Might be able to install a full sized GTX 750Ti and then a "low profile" GTX 750Ti for about $200. It doesn't look like it would replace more than about half your production but you might be able to afford it more easily.

If you can wait a couple of days, there is an expectation of the 1080Ti being announced. If that happens, then you could expect to see prices for the 1080 and 1070 to come down a little. I'd go with a 1070 hybrid

The 1080Ti were announced last night. 35% faster than the 1080, 11GB DDR5X Ram, 11GB memory speed. All cuda cores on the chip intact (ie, not a shaved down model)

Preorders will start tomorrow for the base models. Authorized partners are expected to announce their lineups on March 10.

I'd hold out and see what the partners bring to the market. Personally I'm hoping to see a 1080Ti hybrid but that is probably several more months out.

I was GPU browsing yesterday and ran across a Titan-Z with 5760 cores. What a beast! I've never heard of them before, probably because of the price which is still over $1k CAD.

I'm sure that would require quite the power supply too, but keep your feet warm and cozy :)

Todderbert had one of those (Titan-Z).

Said they run really hot and use a lot of power. He was able to modify it to attach a hybrid cooler on it, but required drilling the PCB. Not something I would recommend doing.

You could ask him and see what he says...

Good luck
