I figured this was the BEST place for this Since it is the "Critter Cafe":

Would You Believe Skunks And Raccoons Are In Zoos In Europe?

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Upon encountering a skunk, no Chicagoan in her right mind would race with glee toward the animal, yet that's precisely how a group of Dutch children reacted when they spotted the infamous "stinkdier" with the telltale white stripe.

Granted the critter in question was on view safely behind protective glass in an enclosure at Amsterdam's Artis Zoo — so no one was in danger of getting doused in noxious spray — but that fact frankly only made the scene more, not less, bizarre to this vacationing reporter.

What on earth were skunks and their enclosure companions, a pack of equally hum drum raccoons, doing on exhibit alongside lions and camels and gorillas, bona fide animal kingdom royalty? Shouldn't they be off Dumpster diving somewhere instead?

Turns out, even common-to-the-point-of-being-a-nuisance animals can be considered exotic in the right setting where their banal reputations do not precede them.

Wow! There were so many excellent entries for raccoon names that I had to give every kit a middle name. Thank you for all the wonderful name suggestions.

I must admit, I do love a "theme". Rob Smith recommended nut names, as these are Peanut's children, and I absolutely loved that idea.

The names of this year's raccoon kits will henceforth be:

Walnut Bailey Korpela (Godparents Rob and Uli)

Hazelnut Tanooki Korpela (Godparents Rob and Valete)

Brazilnut Bjorn Korpela (Godparents Rob and janneseti)

and

Macademia Bobo Korpela (Godparents Rob and David S.)

Thank you, everyone, for playing this game so enthusiastically.

Angela - Many thanks for the great honour of being Godfather to not one but FOUR little Raccoons :-)
Uli - I was pondering upon that myself!

I just found this Facebook page.

Raccoon TV

There's a lot of stuff there that isn't about raccoons. :-(

We think about humans and pets after a disaster. Don't forget about wildlife.
These folks could use your donations:

Austin Wildlife Rescue

Thank you!

P.S. Their Facebook page has cute little raccoons as the cover photo.

Friends will be Friends........until the End

Tis true!

Ulibelle came to visit this weekend and we had lots of fun.
In this picture taken by Eric, Uli and I spike our coffees with the Bailey's Irish Cream she brought over, in celebration of Uli's raccoon godchild Walnut Bailey.
Spawnie, the cat between us, wisely declined having coffee.

Angela, it looks as if one has to sign into one's "google" account (whatever that is) to see your pictures.

When I post a picture, I change the https to http so that one does not have to be signed in to Facebook, I see that Google/Youtube won't allow that, where as Facebook will.

I have to do that when I post something from Flickr, too... such as:

Where I have to delete the "s" 4 times...

This kitty is in Bangkok, Thailand, BTW...

Men are allowed, women are not, equal treatment under the law is a Constitutional Right, it doesn't say Men only.

Just saying.
