You may think me a bad person for this, but I believe it was necessary and for the best in the long run. I'm told that becoming a Falconer and keeping suitable raptors such as Peregrine Falcons or Harris Hawks works well. |

Darned if the little cuss wasn't at it again Saturday morning. Besides being on the lights, it was also on the outer housing of my kitchen exhaust fan, so I turned it on, then removed the nest. I left the fan on for over an hour. Bird got the message. No further attempts have been made. You may think me a bad person for this, but I believe it was necessary and for the best in the long run. Many birds will make repeated attempts to build a nest in their chosen location, even after the destruction of earlier attempts. The only way to get them to nest somewhere else is to make the current location uninhabitable, either by "caging", or putting spikes on the upper surface. I don't know if it's the same bird, but there is now a nest on top of the roll-up awning over my front picture window. It hasn't been rolled in or out in about 30 years, so I don't care about that. I saw a news item the other day about a woman who can't use her front door because robins are aggressively defending the nest they built on her Christmas wreath. She says next year she'll take down the wreath sooner. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Where does she live? Southern Florida? Or did she leave the wreath up until May? Because I don't see robins making nests during the time a Christmas wreath would be up. ~Sue~ |
