I saw programming a few weeks ago that until recently NK was the largest forger of US currency in the world. And the damned stuff is so good only a few experts could identify it as counterfeit. Imagine buying materials for their arsenal with phoney money. BTW technically, that is an act of war by NK, which the US government has blindly ignored.

Regarding the young US citizen who died due to mistreatment by NK, I want to know what he was doing there in the first place?

Many would look for floor 5 at the gloomy Yanggakdo hotel in Pyongyang.
More challenges, of course, are not required because some tourists in North Korea are tempted to look for the hidden floor of Yanggakdo.
There are movies and pictures online that are stated from there, some have searched for souvenirs from there.
It is in the light that Otto Warmbiers incomprehensible act is to be seen.
Perhaps to other adventurous travelers this maybe have become an eye-opener of Warmbiers brutal destiny.

When a spokesman from the United States Department of Foreign Affairs was giving her condolences to the Otto Warmbiers family, she also thanked Sweden for "tireless diplomatic negotiations" concerning Otto Warmbier's safety and release.

11 signs that North Korea becomes a bad holiday.
1. The Department of Foreign Affairs warns Swedes for travel to the country.
2. It is forbidden to travel alone. Only with a tourist group organized by the state travel agency.
3. Your hotel is locked on an island.
4. You are monitored all the time.
5. You may be arrested for strange things.
6. Biggest brag for the fact that there is a lot of empty public space.
A state travel agency has an advertising article titled "Five Reasons To Play Golf In North Korea".
Reason number one reads: "No waiting times. It's like having your own private golf course."
7. There are pictures of Westerners who get what they "deserve" everywhere.
8. Sightseeing at factories and farmhouses.
9. No news media please.
10. Network access and mobile phone will not work.
11. Not many travel here.

Warmbier, 22, died on Monday, after returning to the United States last week in a coma. He had originally traveled to North Korea as part of a tour group when he was detained at Pyongyang’s airport in January 2016. :-(

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor after being convicted of attempting to steal a propaganda banner.

There was a time in my life when I was somewhat adventurous. In 1984 I took a trip to Japan and that is as close to North Korea as I ever wanted to get. In a similar fashion I would never go into a place where westerners are regarded by the locals as trespassers such as Syria, Iraq, most of Africa and a few other places we all know and fear. I'm in no way saying that Warmbier deserved his fate and hopefully it will serve as a grim reminder to others who might have wanted to visit NK.

Although it’s still unlikely that he will beat the course record of 38 under par held by Kim Jong Il.

The general perception surrounding North Korean tourism is that it is unsafe. However, approximately 6-8,000 Western tourists a year venture into North Korea and virtually all of them return safely without incident
A visit to North Korea can be a rewarding and eye-opening journey, a trip that will stay with you a lifetime.

Oh, yeah. It stayed with Otto Warmbier 'a lifetime'..................

Janneseti, I'm interpreting your post as satire.

6-8,000 Western tourists a year are one source of hard currency that keeps fat boy on the throne and his scientists working away on nukes. Everyone's afraid cutting off the money will prompt Kim Jung Crazy to lash out with missiles and artillery.

He's going to do that eventually no matter what appeasements are sent his way.

Cut off all contact with the world, financial, trade, travel, food everything!

So would have been a visit to a Nazi concentration camp during WWII, but that doesn't mean it would have been a good place for a vacation.

Yep a rail carriage that carries live stock in many countries around the world are called "stock cars" as apposed to those 4 wheel things that go around in circles that are far from being "stock" in any shape or form. ;-)

Cheers.

Yes. US English and UK English differs sometimes.
And "boskapsvagn" is not an everyday word in Swedish either.
Why isn't it called a livestock car?
Confusion... :)

That railroad in jaundicedeye's post is NOT a livestock car... it is a box car.

Box Car:

Used for general/generic freight, packed in boxes...

Cattle (stock) car:

Notice the open spaces between the horizontal slats, essential for ventilation for the cattle. If you ship a cow across Texas in the summer in a box car, you will likely have roast beef when it arrives.

In Germany and Russia in the 30's and the 40's they didn't have any open spaces when transporting people because they used box cars:(
I wonder how they deport people in North Korea...
