Have been running seti@home and einstein@home for some time on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4095MB) driver: 376.33 OpenCL: 1.2. Updated to driver 378.49 today and both seti and einstein GPU applications crash within a few seconds. Went back to previous restore point on 64bit windows 10 pro and everything back to normal. I will wait until the next driver update comes out before trying a new driver again. |

Have been running seti@home and einstein@home for some time on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4095MB) driver: 376.33 OpenCL: 1.2. Or simply don't update the drivers. I understand that Windows 10 will sometime update things you don't want updated. So you may need to get/keep a copy of "working" drivers to back date things as needed. Never allow windows to update your drivers. Windows will load their drivers for your GPUs which usually lack OpenCl, which is required to run the applications both here and at Einstein. Unfortunately, Win 10 is notorious for updating your software (even when you tell it not to and removing the updates that allow it to do so) So you will periodically have to recheck your results and drivers to make sure that they were not updated in the middle of the night without your permission. |

...and following on from Zalster - don't rush into updating drivers once you have a stable system. Most recent Nvidia driver updates are aimed specific games, and, as you have found, sometimes to the detriment of computing operations like SETI or Einstein. It is possible to turn off automatic driver update in Windows 10 - there is a very large thread in "number crunching" and I'm certain in the "how to" is buried in that thread.
