Note: I highly recommend Orwell's 1984. It should be required reading in our High Schools.

I read it by my own CHOICE at age 23.5 yrs., while finishing my Master's, one hour east of Twain's Octagon.

It was in the California school system. Maybe that is why the state is blue?

The state I grew up in was blue as well.
I believe I was supposed to read "Animal Farm" senior year, but I was "out of it" for the last 1/2 of junior year and first 1/2 of senior year (without any substances).

Well, the first time I read 1984 AND Animal Farm back in the mid 1970s, Texas was 'blue' as well (Solid Democrat-- In almost all elections in Texas back then, the Democrat Party Primary *was* the election). Then came the Reagan Revolution, and shortly thereafter Texas flipped over to Solid Republican.

In total, Texas has had 48 Governors (not counting the 1 military Governor for 5 days in 1865). 39 of them have been Democrats. 2 Republican Governors during Reconstruction (1867 to 1874), then nothing but Democrats until 1979. Then we alternated Republican (1979), Democrat (1983), Republican (1987), and Democrat (1991)...

Then the damnyankeecarpetbagger Dubya took office in 1995, and it has been Republican ever since.

Of the 48 elected Governors of Texas, 39 Democrats, 7 Republicans, 1 Unionist (1853), and 1 Independent(1959).

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Attention snowflakes: Does this sound like anyone we know?
The major culprit in causing failure has been the inability to apply sound strategic thinking to our policies and strategies. Presidential inexperience and unachievable aspirations are part of the failure to think strategically. -- Harlan Ullman

*Thinking* "I hate ________" is the same as "believing" "I hate ________." Liberals have argued this.

Thinking is not the same as believing. I can think of invisible purple unicorns, though that does not mean I believe that such creatures exist. I guess that means I'm not what you would consider a "Liberal".

The beginnings of thought crime: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A27-28&version=NKJV

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old,[a] ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[b] 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

As anyone who reads understands this: The belief in Thought Crime. Is not solely confined to those who believe in a Deity.

Note: I highly recommend Orwell's 1984. It should be required reading in our High Schools.

CLYDE, as anyone who reads and comprehends understands, Sarge did not explicitly or implicitly suggest that thought crime was solely confined to those who believe in a deity, his comment was on the origins of thought crime. Thus your reference to Orwell is somewhat tangential.

Back to Sarge, I suspect it's older than Matthew, "You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3) might also be viewed a thought crime.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Correct, I did not suggest that.
On the other hand, I was tying it to both what you'd said and what Guy had said. I was also deliberately implying 1984.
As for the other verse: wouldn't it need to be along the lines of "If you even think of another god, yer gonna burn in hell"?

Michael Flynn, did Trump know about his conversation with the Russian ambassador and if so when? At least one of them committed treason.
Flynn is taking the fall but it looks like Donald very well knew and encouraged it. Totally amazing but it is consistent with Trumps history of ethical behavior.
The country wanted change and boy it sure is getting it.

To answer your question, I'd say it certainly looks that way.

"U.S. President Donald Trump knew for weeks that national security adviser Michael Flynn had misled the White House about his contacts with Russia but did not immediately force him out, an administration spokesman said on Tuesday."

Hmmm. Methinks the ouster is inevitable at this point.

Message 1850287 - Posted: 20 Feb 2017, 21:55:35 UTC - in response to Message 1849403.

Usually reliable moles from inside the Trump crime syndicate, say that Trump at the Redneck rally in
Orlando on Saturday Feb 18, will try to get his Redneck supporters into marching on Washington.

Their goal is to scare the progressives, much like the brown shirt SA (Sturmabteilung), did in Germany during the 1920s-1940s.
They plan to occupy the U.S congress, and from what I hear, try to make a repeat event of the infamous Reichstag fire in Berlin on
27 February 1933. The Trump criminal will try to blame the liberals and progressives for the fire, and the violence.
