I had to disable Norton Internet Security to install the lastest BOINC 7.6.33 since then I've been gettting errors and today Norton quarantined it. " Filename: setiathome_8.00_windows_intelx86__cuda50.exe Threat name: WS.Reputation.1Full Path: c:\data\boinc\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\setiathome_8.00_windows_intelx86__cuda50.exe" Anyone else get this? |

isn't there any option in norton to exclude a folder or exec's from scanning? I am using another AV and I've excluded all BOINC folders. |

I had to disable Norton Internet Security to install the lastest BOINC 7.6.33 since then I've been gettting errors and today Norton quarantined it. You can verify against virustotal.com, though it's likely to come back clean. You could try setting Norton to exclude the whole boinc directory or the individual apps (I'm assuming Norton at least still has that functionality). |

You can send applications to Norton for them to check on the false positives. See the link at the bottom of this page. Mind, you said you installed BOINC 7.6.33 and that it got blocked, but it didn't. Your message shows that the Seti science application got blocked. BOINC is a separate entity from Seti. To be able to send the correct file to Norton, download the application from http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_8.00_windows_intelx86__cuda50.exe (link is HTTP only, doesn't work on HTTPS) |

Ok. This is the first issue I've had with Norton finding a Boinc or Seti issue. Thanks. |

I HIGHLY recommend ESET Cyber Security for MAC and ESET NOD32 Antivirus and/or ESET Internet Security for Windows. ESET does NOT hinder BOINC, BOINC Projects, nor BOINC Applications. YET, ESET does have a live scanner that will scan removable drives, (USB sticks and drives), and more... I've been using ESET Cyber Security for MAC for the last year. Prior to ESET, I've been on PCMatic for Windows, Kaspersky for Win and MAC, and going WAAAAAY back - even Norton; ESET is the BEST product out there. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel...
