SETI@Home will not go the screen saver because (I think) it is continuously updating (requesting a scheduler update after communication deferred ends. This happens even when I try to preview BOINC screensaver in settings. My laptop is an Alienware 17 R4 running Windows 10 and is really cranking out workunits

Anyone else have this problem and/or know of a fix?

Thanks.

I didn't realise any one used screen savers any more.
Most people running BONC don't bother with the screen saver as it actually slows down the crunching.

Generally the screen saver (if selected and active) should kick in after the time you set, after there has been no mouse or keyboard activity.
I'd double check you have the BOINC screen saver selected, and double check the time (the default appears to be 1min), and see if clicking on Preview brings it up.

On some systems if you have the "don't process if other tasks greater than x%" set too low you will get into a race condition - the default of 25% can be way too low, increase this to say 50%. The reason is that the process of initiating the screen saver can be rather processor intensive on some systems.
